1. How can people search for information now?
Well, besides the traditional method of paper-based sources like newspapers, it is more common to see people utilizing search engines like google. In fact, people nowadays saying “just google it” is a clear example of showing how we update new information on a daily basis.
2. What information can people get from television?
The most apparent one would definitely be the news, like from BBC, CNN or the news program in Vietnam. Other than that, channels like National Geographic or Discovery provide a plethora of knowledge about the world that we are living, like the ecosystem, animals or cultures in different parts of the world.
3. Do you think libraries are still important in the digital age?
Yes, without a doubt. I think the idea of having a place that could serve as both a place to hit the books, or simply to look for information is tempting. Having said that, the role of libraries could change to an extent; like, for example, a 4.0-era library might only have rows of computers with internet to access all the e-books available, rather than an array of paper books at present.
4. Does the development of the Internet have any impact on some disadvantaged people?
Yes, both positive and negative. Let me give you an example. Let’s just say, there is this poor man on the street who seems desperately in need of some help. If his story were to be shared online, people would be able to come and provide assistance to this underprivileged man. However, this might perpetuate social division as well, which is what some poor students in remote areas had to go through. To be more specific, during the COVID-19 pandemic, many students had trouble accessing online study materials due to a lack of internet connectivity; in contrast, students living in cities or more developed areas were less affected.
