Câu trả lời mẫu (Sample Answer)

1. Did you ride a bike when you were little?

Absolutely yes, I think all children in our generation had to learn how to ride a bike as a survival skill. Without it, we’d have been stranded at home like shipwrecked sailors! Back then, parents were up to their ears with work just to make ends meet, so biking was essential. If you couldn’t ride, you couldn’t get to school, especially since most schools weren’t within walking distance. In short, being able to ride a bike was the ticket to freedom

  • survival skill: kỹ năng sinh tồn
  • up to their ears: bận túi bụi
  • the ticket to freedom: tấm vé tự do

2. Are bikes popular in Vietnam?

Like other countries in Asia, people in Vietnam now prefer zipping around on motorbikes or cars, which helps them save both time and physical toil. If you’re in Hanoi, spotting a bicycle on the streets is pretty rare! But the story takes a twist in the countryside, where bicycles are still pretty prevalent and quietly coasting along the village paths.

  • zipping around: lướt đi
  • physical toil: công sức
  • pretty prevalent: khá phổ biến

3. Do you often ride a bike now?

Not really. These days, I rarely hop on a bike, thanks to the convenience of motorbikes and public transportation in Hanoi’s bustling streets. It’s simply faster and more practical, especially with the city’s infamous traffic. That said, every now and then, I miss the peaceful and leisurely rides of my hometown, where traffic is a distant memory, and the air feels fresher.

  • hop on: trèo lên
  • peaceful and leisurely rides: những chuyến đi nhẹ nhàng và thư giãn

4. Do you have a bike now?

No, I don’t own a bike anymore. I sold my last one a few years back when my motorbike took over. City life demands speed, and a bike just couldn’t keep up! Still, I sometimes rent one if I’m in a scenic spot, like a countryside area or near the coast, where I can take a nice, unhurried ride without the city’s hustle and bustle.

  • scenic spot: danh lam thắng cảnh
  • unhurried: không vội vã

5. Did you have a bike when you were young?

Oh, yes, and it was an essential part of my childhood! My first bike wasn’t fancy—no gears or baskets—but I loved it. That bike was like my own personal freedom machine, and it took me everywhere I wanted to go. Riding around with friends after school or taking it to run small errands felt like real independence.

  • essential part: một phần thiết yếu
  • personal freedom machine: cỗ máy tự do của riêng mình
