The first table below shows changes in the total population of New York City from 1800 to 2000. The second and third tables show changes in the population of the five districts of the city (Manhattan, Brooklyn, Bronx, Queens, Staten Island) over the same period. Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

2. Bài mẫu
The tables depict New York’s total population, its breakdown, and trends according to the city’s 5 burrows at the beginning of each century from the 19th century to the 21st century. Overall, New York’s population experienced an explosion over 200 years, with its population mainly residing in Manhattan in the early years, and then subsequently expanding to the other districts.
In 1800 New York’s population was a mere 79,216 people. However, after 100 years, this figure skyrocketed to roughly 3.4 million, reflecting an explosive growth. By the year 2000, this upward trend continued, with the city’s population more than doubling and reaching over 8 million.
More than three-quarters of New Yorkers (around 60 thousand people) stayed in Manhattan in 1800, whereas other areas only had a modest population of nearly 19 thousand people. The former’s data surged to over 1.8 million 100 years later while the population for other districts also grew sharply to approximately 1.5 million. However, in 2000, only 1.5 million New Yorkers lived in Manhattan (representing 19% of the population). In contrast, the population in the other 4 burrows soared to nearly 6.5 million, surpassing Manhattan’s for the first time.
