You should say:
- Who performed in it
- What kind of performance it was
- When you watched it
- And explain why you enjoyed watching it
One of the most memorable live performances I’ve ever watched was Kendrick Lamar’s halftime show at the Super Bowl, which took place in February 2025. It was a musical performance, but it went far beyond just music—it felt like a mix of live art, storytelling, and cultural commentary.
The main performer was Kendrick Lamar, a highly respected rapper known for his powerful lyrics and social messages. He became the first solo hip-hop artist to lead the Super Bowl halftime show. He also brought out a few surprise guests, such as SZA, who has done so many wonderful features with him, Samuel L. Jackson, who added dramatic narration, and Serena Williams, who danced during one of the songs.
The show lasted about 13 minutes and included some of his most well-known tracks and a particularly impactful song called “Not Like Us.” – a song which was aimed directly to another artist – Drake. For the first time in television history, a diss track was broadcast nationally. However, this is not necessarily a bad thing as he changed the lyrics to be more appropriate for the audience, while still delivering the competitive spirit in Hip-hop culture.
More than that, the stage design was very creative—he performed on top of a black car with dozens of dancers and bright, bold lighting. There were also subtle nods to American culture and deeper social themes throughout the set. What really stood out to me was how thought-provoking the performance was. It wasn’t just about catchy beats or flashy visuals—Kendrick used the stage to highlight serious topics like racial identity and injustice. It felt like he was making a statement, not just putting on an entertaining show.
All in all, I found it incredibly moving. It was exciting, visually stunning, and meaningful at the same time. It reminded me that live performances can be a powerful platform for both creativity and social impact.

Part 3:
1. Why do many people prefer to watch a live performance rather than watch it on TV?
I think one reason is that live performances offer a much more exciting and engaging atmosphere. When you’re at the venue, you can actually feel the lively ambiance of the crowd and see the performers in real time, which adds to the whole experience. Unlike watching at home, you’re fully involved—you laugh, enjoy, and react with everyone else. Also, each live show is unique, so there’s a sense of spontaneity that makes it even more special.

2. Is it expensive to watch a live performance in your country?
In Vietnam, the cost of watching a live performance really depends on what kind of event it is. For example, concerts by famous local or international artists can be quite expensive, especially in big cities like Ho Chi Minh City or Hanoi. Tickets for those events can cost several hundred thousand to even over a million dong. However, there are also many affordable options, such as small theatre plays, or cultural performances in public spaces. These are usually much cheaper, and some are even free, especially if they’re organized by local communities or schools.
3. Is it easy to invite your friends to attend your party or your performance?
Yes, inviting people these days is fairly simple, thanks to apps and social media. You can just send out a group message or create an event online. But persuading people to actually come is a different story—it depends on their schedule or whether they’re interested. Still, my close friends usually try to show up if they can, especially if it’s something important like a performance or celebration.

4. Do you think it is hard for people to perform in front of their friends?
I believe it can be quite tough for some people. Even though friends are supposed to be supportive, performing in front of people you know can feel more intimidating because they’re afraid of being judged. They might feel more self-conscious or nervous than you would in front of strangers. That said, if their friends are encouraging, it can also make things easier and boost their confidence.

5. What kind of party have you had so far?
One type of party I’ve attended quite often is the year-end party at my workplace. It’s usually held at a restaurant, hotel or any venue that can match the theme. Usually, all the employees gather to celebrate the achievements of the past year. There’s often a formal part, like speeches from the managers and awards for outstanding staff, followed by dinner, games, and sometimes live performances or lucky draws. I think it’s a great opportunity for everyone to relax, bond with colleagues, and start the new year on a positive note.
