1. Do you think that walking is not as helpful as playing other sports for our health?
I don’t think that is true. Walking is also an effective way to do cardio. Whether it’s helpful or not depends on the intensity and the amount of time you spend doing it. For instance, if we walk for 10 kilometers per day, I believe that it’s still as beneficial for our health as playing football for 90 minutes. Moreover, jogging is more suitable for beginners as it doesn’t require many skills to do it compared to other sports. Therefore, we won’t be discouraged right from the get-go, which is important for the practicing journey.
- Cardio: các bài tập thể dục cardio
- From the get-go: ngay từ ban đầu
2. What are the benefits of outdoor activities for children?
Apparently, outdoor sports allow children to improve their physical health. They are a great start for children to establish healthy habits and avoid sedentary lifestyle, which leads to so many health problems. Furthermore, children can also learn different valuable skills such as communicating, team-working or following rules by participating in team sports. Also, recreational activities, like playing in the park, are also opportunities for children to make friends and bond with their parents.
- Sedentary lifestyle: lối sống thụ động
- Recreational activities: hoạt động giải trí
3. Do women have more leisure time than men?
I think free time has nothing to deal with gender. There is a misconception that men are usually breadwinners so they are busier compared to women. But now, women are as occupied as men since they also have to work to provide for the family. Or even for housewives, the amount of work that they have to do in a day is also enormous, so I don’t think it’s fair to say that women have more leisure time than men.
- Misconception (n): sự hiểu sai, ngộ nhận
- Breadwinner (n): người kiếm tiền chính trong gia đình
- Occupied = busy (adj): bận rộn
- Housewife (n): người nội trợ
4. Is leisure time important to everyone? Why?
Yes, of course. It’s not only the time to pursue our personal interests, but also a way to keep everything balanced in our lives. By that I mean, free time is essential to release our stress after work, reinforce relationships by spending time with our loved ones or strengthen our well-being, which can be done by physical trainning, or simpler, getting enough sleep after a hard-working day.
- Reinforce = strengthen (v): củng cố, làm mạnh
- Well-being (n): sức khỏe
5. What are the differences between the outdoor activities children did in the past and now?
From what I can see, children tend to stay indoors more nowadays, and there are many reasons for this trend. First, environmental degradation has been occurring around the world. Parents who are worried about this don’t allow their kids to stay outside too much, as it can severely affect their health. Second, technological development has created tons of temptations for children to stay inside the house. Namely, social media, animated programs on TV, video games and many more. The young can spend hours on end emerging in these activities.
- Environmental degradation: ô nhiễm/xuống cấp của môi trường
- Temptations (n): sự thu hút, cám dỗ
- Hours on end: hàng giờ liền
- Emerge (v): nhập tâm, đắm chìm
6. What outdoor activities do people like?
It varies from person to person. For ones who love physical activities, jogging, running, and all kinds of exercises must be their favourite. But for people who opt for more relaxing activities, landscape photographing, growing trees, or just sitting in the park would also be great for them.
- Landscape photographing: chụp ảnh phong cảnh
