1. Do most people prefer to watch movies at home or in a cinema? Why?

It really depends on each person.  Some people like watching movies at home because it’s comfy, and they can watch whenever they want without spending extra money. Others enjoy going to the cinema for a large screen, modern sound system, great visual impact and the fun of being in a shared movie-watching vibe with friends or family.

  • Comfy: thoải mái
  • Visual: hình ảnh

2. What are the advantages of going to the cinema with friends?

Going to the cinema with friends offers several advantages. Firstly, it creates a shared experience, allowing for collective enjoyment of the film and providing a basis for shared discussions afterward. On top of that, the experience often becomes a special event, suitable for celebrations or simply spending quality time together.

  • Spend quality time: dành thời gian chất lượng

3. Is going to the cinema still popular?

No, I think the cinema halls have lost their glorious days, especially in my country, because an increasing number of people make time to watch movies either on Tvs or one their computers. I believe the popularity of international mvies and low quality local movies and amenities to get great movie-viewing experience at home are the reasons for this shifting trend.

  • Glorious days: những ngày huy hoàng
  • Amenity: tiện nghi

4. What kind of movies do you think need to be seen in the cinema to be fully appreciated?

Movies with stunning visuals and soundtracks, like action or epic sci-fi, need a cinema setting to be fully appreciated. By which I mean, the big screen and surround sound add so much to the experience, making you feel part of the story. Imagine watching a space epic in the cinema – it’s like being transported to another galaxy.

So, while some movies are fine at home, others truly come to life in the cinema.

  • Sci-fi: phim khoa học viễn tưởng

5. What can cinemas do to attract more audiences?

Under the circumstances that traditional cinemas are losing their audience, I believe one method is to combine with other types of services. For instance, instead of just selling popcorn and soft drinks, cinemas can bring more kinds of beverages and snacks. Additionally, they should make the price more affordable so that students can go with their friends more often.

  • Circumstance: hoàn cảnh

6. Do you think people can learn new cultures through movies?

Well, in most cases, yes, but it still depends. I mean, sometimes people want to create a film from other cultures, but they are likely to make it in a weird way. No offense here, but take Mulan as an example, people from the West may start to have a general idea about how ancient China looks like through the movie, but actually it’s wrong because a lot of scenes in that movie don’t represent Chinese culture correctly. However, if they watched a domestic movie made in China, that would definitely help them know our cultures more deeply.

  • Domestic movie: Phim nội địa
