Part 3
Do you think job satisfaction is more important than salary when choosing a job?
What skills do you think are needed to get a good job these days?
Do you think women should be able to do all the same jobs that men do?
How has technology changed the way we work?
1. Do you think job satisfaction is more important than salary when choosing a job?
Sample 1: I do think that being satisfied with what you do takes you far and can be a huge motivation for people. This could be very simple things like being happy with the working environment, the colleagues or more abstract things like the value that it can bring to society or how it fulfills one of your passions. All of these can dictate how happy you are with not only your job but your life in general. That’s not to say salary is not important because it is. Some people just want a job where they can earn a livable or even a high income and that’s that which is a valid viewpoint in my opinion.
- abstract (a) trừu tượng
- dictate (v) quyết định
- livable income (n) mức lương đủ sống
Sample 2: I believe job satisfaction often takes precedence over salary when choosing a job. While a high salary is appealing, it’s just one piece of the puzzle. Imagine working in a toxic environment with an unsupportive boss and uncooperative colleagues. No amount of money can compensate for the stress and dissatisfaction that would cause. On the flip side, a job with a moderate salary but a positive environment, room for growth, and meaningful work can lead to long-term happiness. At the end of the day, if you’re good at something, you can find financial success in many places, but not all of them can offer true satisfaction. That’s an important factor to consider when looking for a job.
- takes precedence over: quan trọng hơn
- appealing: hấp dẫn
- compensate for: bù cho
2. What skills do you think are needed to get a good job these days?
Sample 1: The first thing that pops into my mind is skills revolving technology. We are living in such a digitalized world that it is hard to find a job that doesn’t have things to do with technology. So I think being a bit tech-savvy can definitely land you many great positions in many different fields. And then there are skills that we know are crucial like communications and teamwork. They are required for most jobs since most jobs you don’t work in isolation so being a team player and an outspoken individual is something various corporations are looking for.
- pop into one’s mind: tự hiện ra trong đầu
- tech-savvy (a) giỏi về/ yêu thích công nghệ
- a team player (n) người có kỹ năng làm việc nhóm tốt
- outspoken (a) thẳng thắn, sẵn sàng nói lên quan điểm
Sample 2: Well, to the best of my knowledge, landing a good job these days requires a mix of hard and soft skills. On the technical side, being tech-savvy is crucial. This includes being proficient with computers, analyzing data, and staying up-to-date with the latest software and tools relevant to your field. But it’s not just about hard skills. Soft skills are equally important. Employers look for people who can communicate effectively, work well in teams, and adapt to changing situations. Problem-solving skills and the ability to think critically are also highly valued, as they enable you to navigate complex challenges in the workplace.
- being tech-savvy: giỏi công nghệ
- navigate complex challenges: giải quyết những vấn đề khó
3. Do you think women should be able to do all the same jobs that men do?
Sample 1: I think it’s hard to give a blanket statement for this. In my opinion, if they have the same experience, abilities and knowledge then a man and a woman should get offered the same positions with equal pay. In short, they should have the same opportunities. However, I do think that there are jobs that women should not do if they don’t have to or want to. I’d say a lot of physically demanding jobs are quite challenging for women since many of them don’t have the strengths to do them like men, so I don’t think those are suitable for women
- a blanket statement (n) một nhận định rất chung, rất khái quát
- physically demanding job (n) công việc nặng nhọc, yêu cầu thể chất
Sample 2: Absolutely, women should be able to pursue any career path. For instance, in the medical field, we’ve seen many women excel as surgeons, a role traditionally dominated by men. If someone has the skills, passion, and determination, gender shouldn’t be a barrier. It’s about creating equal opportunities for everyone to pursue their career aspirations. If society restricts women from certain jobs, it not only limits individual potential but also deprives industries of diverse talent and perspectives, which are crucial for innovation and progress
- pursue any career path: theo đuổi bất kì ngành nghề nào
- deprive somebody of something: lấy đi của ai cái gì
4. How has technology changed the way we work?”
Sample 1: Pretty much everything, I’d say. It really revolutionized workflows and the jobs that are offered. Most jobs now include the use of a computer program or app to make the process more efficient and more precise. But technology has made us a bit lazier than before too. With the invention of AI, the creativity level has dropped a bit since people are becoming too dependent on it. Take graphic designing as an example, people are using AI for quick renders and image modifications which is definitely quicker but it is also taking away some of the creative thinking in the job itself. Therefore, I think we should be aware and have a more balanced approach when integrating technology.
- revolutionize (v) cách mạng hoá, thay đổi nhiều thứ
- workflow (n) quy trình làm việc
- render (n) quá trình kiến tạo một hình ảnh
- image modification (n) chỉnh sửa hình ảnh
Sample 2: Technology has really transformed our work life. For example, thanks to smartphones, we can now stay on top of emails, attend virtual meetings, and manage projects on the go. This flexibility helps us juggle work and personal commitments more effectively. Plus, the instant access to information means we can easily research, upskill, and network with professionals from all over. Overall, technology has made work more efficient, keeping us connected and productive no matter where we are.
- juggle work and personal commitments: cân bằng công việc và cuộc sống cá nhân
