1. Bài mẫu (Sample)

First of all, I have to say that I’ve always been a bit of a tech-savvy person (rành công nghệ), so over time I’ve installed a bunch of apps (khá nhiều ứng dụng) on my phone. But if I had to pick out one app that I genuinely love the most, it would definitely be TikTok.

So basically, TikTok is an app where you can watch all sorts of short videos, ranging from entertainment to education. It uses an algorithm (thuật toán) to recommend videos based on your preferences and viewing habits, so the videos are incredibly spot-on (rất đúng gu) and engaging. If my memory serves me right, I first used TikTok about a few years ago. At that time, it was all the rage (rất thịnh hành), and everyone around me kept raving about (khen không ngớt) how fun and addictive it was, which made me really curious, so I decided to give it a shot (dùng thử), and since then, it has become an indispensable app to me for a couple of reasons. For one, TikTok offers tons of entertaining videos that help me unwind (thư giãn) and alleviate stress (giảm căng thẳng) after a long day at school. I can spend hours on end watching videos about animals, fashion, or celebrities. On top of that, TikTok is also a powerful tool for studying. I’ve actually subscribed to a lot of channels that teach English, which really helps me boost my vocabulary and pronunciation without feeling bored. But I’m also aware that TikTok can reduce my concentration and even become addictive. For example, there was one time when I just wanted to spend just 10 minutes scrolling through the app, but I ended up (rốt cuộc lại) spending nearly an hour, which made me really regret it. Since then, I’ve tried to use it in moderation (có chừng mực).

So yeah, TikTok is hands down one of my favorite apps that I don’t think I can live without.

Part 3: (Band 7.0+)

1. What are the differences between old and young people when using apps?

Well, I think the main difference lies in their level of tech-savviness (am hiểu công nghệ). Young people tend to be more familiar with (quen với) digital tools, so they can easily switch between apps without any difficulty. In contrast, older people may find some apps a bit confusing (khó hiểu) and need more time to get used to new updates or layouts.

Another difference is the way they use apps in daily life. Young users often rely on apps for entertainment like social media or online games, while older people mainly use them for more practical purposes (mục đích thiết thực), such as messaging family members or checking the news.

2. Why do some people not like using apps?

I think it can boil down to the fact that (là do) some people find apps too complicated (phức tạp) to use. They may struggle with setting things up or navigating different features, which can be quite frustrating, especially for older users.

Another reason is that some people are concerned about their privacy. They worry that apps may collect personal data or track their online activities, which makes them feel uncomfortable using these platforms.

3. What apps are popular in your country?

Well, in Vietnam, social media and messaging apps are extremely popular. Many people use apps like Facebook, TikTok, or Zalo to stay in touch with friends, share updates, or watch short videos.

Another group of widely used apps are e-commerce platforms (nền tảng thương mại điện tử) and food delivery services. For example, lots of Vietnamese users rely on Shopee or Grab for online shopping and ordering meals, which makes daily life much more convenient.

4. Should parents limit their children’s use of computer programs and computer games?

Yes, I believe parents should set some limits on their children’s screen time (thời gian dùng máy tính). Spending too much time on computer games can be quite addictive, which may affect their sleep or academic performance. For example, some students stay up late playing games and feel too tired to focus in class the next day.

Another reason is that excessive gaming can lead to a more sedentary lifestyle (lối sống ít vận động). If children spend hours sitting in front of a screen, they may miss out on outdoor activities or face-to-face interaction with friends, which are important for their physical and social development.

5. Do you think young people are more and more reliant on these programs?

Yes, I do think young people are becoming increasingly dependent on these apps. Many of them use digital platforms not just for entertainment but also for studying, communication, and even managing daily tasks, which makes apps an essential part of their routine.

However, I don’t think this is necessarily a bad thing, as these tools can actually improve their productivity. For example, many Vietnamese students now use note-taking or scheduling apps to organise their assignments and deadlines, which helps them stay on top of (kiểm soát được) their workload.
