1. Bài mẫu (Sample)
For me, shopping is an ideal way to mellow out and reward myself after grinding away at work. One of my go-to places where I like to pay a visit regularly is VinMart. If you live in Vietnam, the name probably rings a bell as it’s one of, if not the most popular chain of convenience stores in Vietnam. The branch that I often stop by is just a couple of minutes’ walks from my house, which is very convenient since I dread having to drive long distance to buy groceries.
As you’d expect from a household name, the store offers a wide variety of products, ranging from daily necessities to small household appliances. You can find pretty much anything there: fresh veggies, instant noodles, snacks, and even toiletries. They also have rows of refrigerators stocked to the brim with all kinds of ice cream, yogurts, and frozen meat. My personal favourite is the aisle of cheese, which always smells heavenly when I walk by.
I probably come here around three or four times a week, sometimes even more if I forget something or just want to restock my indomie supply. It’s become part of my routine. What I like most about shopping there is how quick and hassle-free it is. I can pop in, grab what I need, maybe pick up a little treat for myself, and be out the door in no time. The staff are also really friendly and helpful, so I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for high quality products and delightful shopping experience.

Part 3:
1. Do people in your country go to the shopping mall frequently?
It really depends on each individual’s preference and the area they live in. For city dwellers, I’d say that most of them visit the shopping centre very often, especially on weekends or special occasions. Shopping malls here are more than just places to buy things. They’re almost like social hubs. Families bring their kids to play areas, teenagers hang out with friends at food courts or coffee shops, and couples might go see a movie together. On the flip side, folks who reside in the countryside are more partial to the flea market as the prices are cheaper and the locally grown produce is much fresher than the frozen vegetables at the malls.
- city dweller (n): dân thành phố
- social hub (n): địa điểm tụ tập xã hội
- on the flip side (idiom): mặt khác, ngược lại
- be partial to (adj): thích cái gì hơn
- flea market (n): chợ trời
2. How have people’s shopping habits changed in recent decades?
As far as I’m concerned, people’s shopping habits have tremendously shifted due to technology. In the 80s and 90s, people would go to street markets or brick-and-mortar stores for pretty much everything. Nowadays, with smartphones and e-commerce sites, a lot of people, especially young adults, prefer buying stuff online because it’s faster and often more affordable thanks to discount codes and vouchers. But at the same time, some people like the elderly still enjoy going to shops to see and touch things before buying to make sure they don’t get scammed.
- brick-and-mortar store (n): cửa hàng truyền thống
- e-commerce site (n): trang thương mại điện tử
3. Do you think shops and shopping malls will disappear in the future?
Personally, I don’t think they’ll ever fully disappear, at least not in my lifetime. Online shopping has become super convenient, but sometimes you just want to buy things in person. For example, when shopping for clothes, you would want to make sure that it fits you properly and goes well with your skin color by trying them on. This is not something that you can do on the Internet. Plus, shopping malls offer way more than shopping. They’re places to eat, hang out, or just escape the heat. I do think malls will have to adapt more to survive, maybe by adding more entertainment or unique experiences that you can’t get online.
- escape the heat (v): tránh nóng
- adapt (v): thích nghi
4. What are the differences between shopping in street markets and big shopping malls?
Well, street markets have a totally different vibe compared to malls. They feel more local and down-to-earth. You can bargain with vendors, find fresh produce, or try cheap and tasty street food while shopping. It feels more personal and you can support small local sellers. On the other hand, big malls are clean, air-conditioned, and have lots of well-known brands. You know what you’re getting and you can shop comfortably no matter what the weather is like outside. Personally, I enjoy both depending on my mood and what I need to buy.
- vibe (n): không khí, cảm giác
- down-to-earth (adj): giản dị, gần gũi
- bargain (v): mặc cả
- vendor (n): người bán hàng
- well-known brand (n): thương hiệu nổi tiếng
5. What are the differences in the shopping habits of different age groups?
I’d say there’s a pretty clear difference. Older people, like my parents or grandparents, prefer going to traditional wet markets or small local shops. They enjoy chatting with the sellers and checking the quality of the food themselves. Meanwhile, younger people are more into shopping malls and online shopping because it saves time and they can find trendy things more easily. Also, young people are more likely to use shopping as an excuse to hang out with friends, grab a coffee, or just window-shop for fun.
- window-shop (v): đi dạo ngắm đồ mà không mua
