What qualities should a leader have?
What should people do without a good team leader?
Does a team’s best player make a good leader?
Why do some people dislike teamwork?
Do you think young people are good team players?
What are the advantages of working as part of a team?
1. What qualities should a leader have?
To my perspective, there are many factors contributing to a successful leader. Firstly, I don’t think leaders must acquire in-depth knowledge in a specific area. Instead, they should be able to manage their teammates well, by that I mean, to understand their strengths and weaknesses before putting them in suitable positions. It is also important to become an appreciative boss. Many employees say they are willing to work harder if their hard work is acknowledged and valued.
- acquire in-depth knowledge: có được kiến thức sâu sắc
- by that I mean: ý tôi là
- an appreciative boss: người sếp biết ơn, biết trân trọng
2. What should people do without a good team leader?
Well, it’s hard to say. The first thing they should do may be to give comments on the way the leader leads the team. If the allocation of work is not appropriate, or team members are not able to grow their strengths, they can speak up and suggest some solutions. If the leader does not take them seriously or is unable to change the situation, members may think of leaving or nominating another leader.
- the allocation of work : phân bổ công việc
- speak up: lên tiếng
- take them seriously: cân nhắc nghiêm túc
- nominating: bầu cử
3. Does a team’s best player make a good leader?
Yes and no. The best member in a team can be a leader as they have got insights of what the team is doing. In-depth knowledge about the job, together with understanding of other members’ strengths and weaknesses, this leader can go far. However, I’m more convinced by the belief that in a team, there are some people who can lead and some others can execute. Executives, who are really good at their expertise, hardly ever have time to mange the whole team with many different personality and desire.
- got insights: hiểu sâu
- can go far: tiến xa trong sự nghiệp
- execute: thực hiện
- Executives: chuyên viên
- expertise: chuyên môn
4. Why do some people dislike teamwork?
I call them lone wolves. These people have what it takes to fulfill all the tasks without others’ support. Also, I think they are introverts who are not comfortable sharing their problems and listening to pieces of advice that they are not sure if they really work. Another intriguing thing I heard about introverts is that their power comes from inside, and they can work most productively when staying alone.
- lone wolves: những con sói đơn độc
- introverts : người hướng nội
- work: hiệu quả
5. Do you think young people are good team players?
I don’t think this has something to do with age groups or generations. To me, there have been and will always be lone wolves and team players in this world. I believe either being in a team or not, each individual is contributing to this life by their own way. But if you ask me about should young people work with each other more, my answer is yes. Throughout history, joint effort has been proven to take people to great success.
- has something to do: có liên quan gì đến
- joint effort: sức mạnh tập thể
6. What are the advantages of working as part of a team?
The merits vary. First, team members have someone to have their backs, especially when it comes to their weaknesses. Second, they grasp the opportunity to learn from others in reality. If there is something that they do not catch up, other teammates can show them the way in great details. Finally, people usually say: “if you want to go fast, go alone; but if you want to go far, go together”. This saying means that collective effort can bring achievements that one individual cannot realize.
- merits: ưu điểm
- backs: hỗ trợ
- grasp the opportunity: nắm bắt cơ hội
- collective effort: sức mạnh tập thể
