1. On what occasions do people have to do things in a hurry?

I believe it is usually when they have a very near deadline at work or school or maybe that have a different event coming up so they have to wrap things up with their current tasks quickly. Sometimes people like to set a challenge for themselves to see how fast they can complete a task too.

  • Near deadline (noun phrase) – Thời hạn sắp tới hoặc gần kết thúc.
  • Wrap things up (phrasal verb) – Hoàn thành hoặc kết thúc công việc.

2. Why do some people spend a long time on having a meal?

From my perspective, having a meal is a rare time in a day for people to relax and savour the dishes made for them. It is also the time people spend with their friends and family, they usually talk and catch up with each other while eating. So it can be quite rude to rush eating when you are with other people.

3. Would people feel more satisfied if they finished doing something quickly?

I believe that people get a sense of pride whenever they can finish a task in a short period of time. However, this is not always the case. For perfectionists, they wouldn’t feel very content when they have to get the task done quickly without having the extra time to review their work and make appropriate adjustments.

  • Perfectionists (noun) – Người cầu toàn

4. What kinds of jobs need to be done quickly?

All kinds, really. It can be a task at an office job, it can be a trade, a construction, or even homework, school assignment or a chore. I suppose all tasks at one point need to be finished in a rush.

5. What are some examples of work that needs to be done quickly?

If we get into specifics, there are a few cases that always need to be done in a timely manner because time takes precedence in those. First is chemical experiments, some chemicals cannot be left out for too long, otherwise the experiment might fail. A more obvious example would be medical operations. In an operation, a doctor cannot act slowly or simply take a break from it. Everything needs to be done quickly and precisely in order for the operation to succeed.

  • Precedence (noun) – Ưu tiên

6. What might make some people more productive than others in completing tasks?

The first thing I can think of is a person’s approach to their tasks. Some like to take it slow, get some motivation and inspiration before starting their work, others like to dive in head first and then review their work later. The latter usually gets things done quicker. Moreover, external factors also play an important role in the duration of the task. If a person is constantly distracted from their work, they cannot be as quick as someone in the zone.

  • Approach (noun) – Cách tiếp cận hoặc phương pháp tiếp cận một vấn đề hoặc nhiệm vụ cụ thể.
  • Distractions (noun) – Những yếu tố gây ra sự phân tâm hoặc làm giảm hiệu suất làm việc.
