1. Why do some people hate advertisements?
[Topic sentence] Well, I can think of two key rationales behind people’s negative attitude towards adverts.
[Idea 2] Also, I suspect that many people are simply fed up with the sheer abundance of adverts these days. I mean, no matter how patient a person is, he or she can only tolerate so many commercial breaks during their favorite television program or YouTube videos.
[Conclusion] So basically, I think most people detest advertisements due to a lack of either trust or tolerance.
- glamorize: làm cho trở nên mỹ miều
- actual worth: giá trị thực
- putting their trust in: đặt niềm tin vào
- misleading: sai lệch
- sheer abundance: sự quá nhiều
- tolerate: chịu đựng
- detest: không thích, phản đối
2. Do people usually buy stuff after watching advertisements?
[Topic sentence] I suppose it depends on which demographic we are talking about.
[Idea 1] Young consumers, especially those of my age, tend to have a higher level of trust in adverts. They also are very willing to try new products, which means the chances of them purchasing something random that they came across on a piece of advertisement are often quite high.
[Idea 2] I can’t say the same for senior citizens, though. They tend to stick to products that they know and are familiar with. Not to mention, from a scientific viewpoint, elderly people are less sensitive to images and sounds, which means adverts of any kind will not excite them as easily as they do on younger people.
- demographic: nhóm dân số
- came across: bắt gặp
- stick to: trung thành với
3. Is music useful in advertising?
[React] Without a doubt!
[Topic sentence] I believe music has a pivotal role in the success of any commercial.
[Idea 1] Research has shown that music helps us with not only retrieving old memories, but also laying down new ones. This means that a commercial with nice background music will leave a longer-lasting impression.
[Idea 2] And what’s more, music affects our emotional state. The implication for adverts is that the music exerts influence on the viewers’ attitude, making them less suspicious and more emotionally attached to the product.
[Conclusion] So basically, music is an effective tool to improve the memorability and credibility of the advertised product.
- pivotal role: vai trò bản lề
- retrieving: gợi lại
- leave a longer-lasting impression: để lại ấn tượng lâu hơn
- emotional state: trạng thái cảm xúc
- suspicious: ngờ vực
- emotionally attached: gắn kết về mặt cảm xúc
- memorability: tính đáng nhớ
- credibility: tính tin cậy
