1. What kinds of activities do young people like to do?
From my perspective, today’s younger generation is presented with a plethora of leisure activities thanks to the widespread adoption of technology and advancements in living standards. Among these, one of the most ubiquitous pastimes is engaging with social media and consuming digital literature. While these activities serve to occupy their time and provide a temporary escape, it’s crucial to acknowledge the potential drawbacks. Excessive immersion in these digital realms can lead to sedentary lifestyles and associated health issues. Alternatively, some individuals may opt for machine-assisted exercises in gyms, such as weightlifting or using treadmills. This trend towards physical activity is commendable as it enhances the stamina and overall performance of young people, be it in academic pursuits or professional endeavors.
- Leisure activity = Pastime (n) hoạt động tiêu khiển trong thời gian rảnh rỗi
- A plethora of = a variety of (n) rất nhiều
- Excessive (a) Quá mức
- Immersion (n) Sự đắm chìm
- Treadmill (n) Máy chạy bộ
- Stamina (n) Sức chịu đựng
2. Why do some young people like adventurous activities?
From what I know, there are various reasons why a number of youngsters are drawn towards these activities. Firstly, they might enjoy the adrenaline rush and excitement. For example, bungee jumping and mountain biking provide an intense rush of adrenaline as participants face the thrill of leaping from great heights or navigating turbulent waters. Another reason could result from the desire to overcome certain types of fear like height, water or falling. Adventure sports can definitely help people to confront their long-lasting fears and gradually gain control over them. By pushing their boundaries and confronting their fears in a controlled environment, young people can build confidence and resilience that extends beyond their adventurous pursuits.

- Adrenaline rush (n) cảm giác hồi hộp
- Push the boundary (n) Vượt qua ranh giới

3. Do you think old people would like to have changes?
I respectfully disagree. Typically, as individuals accumulate years of life experience, they often find comfort and satisfaction in stability and security, qualities not typically associated with significant changes. While there are exceptions, where elderly individuals may welcome certain shifts in their lives, I argue that such changes should generally be minor. Introducing major changes can potentially cause shock or discomfort for the elderly
- Accumulate (v) tích luỹ
- Stability (n) sự ổn định
- Security (n) sự an toàn
4. Why can exciting activities relieve people’s stress?
Such a hard question! We tend to think this is something too obvious to dissect any further. Let me see!
I think that the excitement from those activities can take people’s minds off worrying things for a bit, it’s like an escape from their entanglement for a while, allowing time for the whole body and brain to have a respite, be rejuvenated and be energized again. For instance, if you participate in a football match, you are usually immersed in running after the ball and scoring the goal and forget all other external things. Besides, engaging activities often stimulate bodies to release endorphins, which can provide a natural mood boost, promoting feelings of happiness and relaxation.
- Take smb’s mind off smt: khiến đầu óc của ai đó ngừng suy nghĩ về điều gì đó.
- Entanglement (n) Sự rắc rối
- Rejuvenated (a) được tươi mới trở lại
5. Can you give some (other) examples of adventurous or risky activities?
There are numerous adventurous and risky activities beyond those commonly known. These may include rock climbing, whitewater rafting, base jumping, paragliding, and deep-sea diving, among others. Each of these activities carries its own set of challenges and thrills, appealing to individuals seeking excitement and adrenaline-fueled experiences.
- rock climbing (n) Leo núi
- whitewater rafting (n) chèo bè vượt thác
- bungee jumping (n) nhảy bungee

6. What skills do people need to take part in adventurous activities?
To participate in adventurous activities safely and effectively, individuals are required to have a range of skills. These include physical fitness, balance, coordination, problem-solving abilities, risk assessment, decision-making skills, and knowledge of safety rules and equipment usage. Additionally, participants must possess mental resilience, adaptability, and the ability to remain calm under pressure, as they may encounter unexpected situations or obstacles during their adventures. Overall, a combination of physical and mental skills is essential for engaging in adventurous activities with confidence and enjoyment.
- Physical fitness (n) thể lực
