1. Why do people like to take motorbikes?
Motorcycles are usually popular because they are considered one of the most practical and inexpensive means of transport. In densely populated countries like Vietnam, they help people to weave through the chaotic traffic, allowing commuters to travel to destinations significantly faster than other vehicles. Besides that, motorbikes are suitable for most middle-class households because of their diverse models and cost-efficiency.

2. What are the major issues of motorbikes?
Despite the benefits mentioned, this transportation is not without its drawbacks. Like many other vehicles, one of the most detrimental impacts attributable to motorbikes is air pollution. They contaminate the atmosphere with a sizeable amount of carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gas emissions, even worsened by the sheer amount of these vehicles on the road. Furthermore, the approachable nature of this vehicle also makes it a great escape tool for reckless drivers and law offenders.

3. What are the causes of these issues?
The main cause of the toxic fumes comes from the very nature of traditional transportation as most gas-fueled vehicles release harmful emissions. Additionally, many operating motorbikes are poorly maintained with third-party parts and subpar engines that exacerbate the levels of harmful pollutants. As for criminal use, easy access to motorcycles allows inexperienced and unlicensed motorcyclists to conduct their misdemeanors. This state of misuse also reflects the ineffectiveness of law enforcement in managing traffic.

These modes of transportation offer lower maintenance costs and utilize renewable energy, making them effective in mitigating the harmful effects of motorbikes on the environment. Governments should also allocate more funds to public transportation infrastructure to encourage eco-friendly commuting and reduce citizens’ dependence on private vehicles.

5. How do you think the transportation system will be in the future? What can be improved?

Currently, companies are investing more in advanced technologies like driverless vehicles with improved map systems, making everyone’s daily commute more convenient and enjoyable. And with the disadvantages mentioned above, chances are people will opt for electric means of transport, with more charging stations and government subsidies to support the change.
