1. What activities do children often do in your country? 

From my observation, each child would have varying interests and hobbies and these days they have more freedom to follow those so to me, the difference doesn’t come from whether a kid is living in this country or another but it’s more from his or her orientation. To list a few examples, artsy children would often draw, dance, and act, while sporty ones would probably join a football or basketball team and the like.

2. What are the differences between activities at home and at school?

I think the main difference here is the level of comfort. At home, there’s little to no restrictions, and children have more freedom to choose what’s best for them in terms of interests and hobbies, as long as those won’t hurt them. In contrast, at school, activities are supposed to be universal so everyone could take part in them, so there’s less choice but more inclusivity. Finding a good balance between those two types of activities would greatly benefit youngsters I believe.

3. Why do some people like to participate in activities? 

Well, us humans are basically social creatures so it’s understandable that most of us would often love to be in a community, particularly in the form of activities since that would give us a sense of belonging and contribution. I believe that everyone has something to bring to the table, and each person would fit into a certain group of individuals with similar interests, objectives or visions. And that’s somehow the beauty of life, there’s room and space for everyone.

I suppose it depends on personal preferences. Personally, I would spend time by myself unwinding or contemplating a bit after solid working days, that would give me a sense of peace and calmness, which is so hard to maintain in this era of technology. But I do know people who would enjoy going out as they have some time off and taking part in social situations like parties or gatherings to recharge their battery.  Then there are also people who would immediately book a flight ticket, a hotel room somewhere far away to let their hair down. I think there are many ways to achieve happiness and each person would sooner or later find one that fits them best.

5. Does technology affect children’s activities? If so, how? 

Absolutely, since, you know, the amount of children’s screen time in recent years has been escalating quickly, which would for sure lead to a decrease in real-life activities. The availability and accessibility of tech devices have pretty much conditioned kids to normalize excess use of social media or mobile games. Staying online and “connected” all the time would leave little time for them to go out and join simple old things like a friends’ dinner or a game of football like previous generations would do. This to me is a very sad reality and I’ve been finding ways to fix it, at least within my social circle
