Yes, I believe maps were far more important in the past than they are now. Before the advent of smartphones and GPS technology, paper maps were essential tools for navigating unfamiliar places. People had to rely on detailed maps or even hand-drawn ones to travel between cities or explore new areas. For example, in Vietnam, traditional maps were crucial for planning routes, especially in rural areas where landmarks were fewer and distances between locations were significant. Without them, it would have been incredibly easy to get lost or waste time figuring out the way.

Absolutely. Although we now have technology to assist us, knowing how to read a map is still a valuable skill. For example, understanding cardinal directions and how to orient a map can be useful in outdoor activities like hiking. Moreover, it teaches you how to analyze and interpret information, which can be applied in other areas of life.

3. In this aspect, what is the role of technology?

However, while technology has made life easier, it has also made many of us overly dependent on it. Some people struggle to navigate without their phones. I think the key is to use technology as a tool while maintaining basic map-reading skills for those rare moments when technology might fail.
