1. Do you think people need to wear formally in the workplace?
It actually depends on the occupation as well as the events we attend at work. Let’s say people who work for some prestigious universities or educational institutions, in general, may need to wear formal attire so they can set a good example, you know, be a role model for their students and also convey the impression that they are conscious of the roles they have in educating youngsters. However, anyone working in any field in technology or art and design don’t have to wear uniform or suit and tie or some long dresses with blouses because they may opt for comfort to have more creative ideas to boost their productivity. More importantly, all employees should really pay attention to their outfits when participating in any events at work. I mean, if they attend a meeting with the C-suite of the organization, it’s a must for them to dress formally, but it’s completely fine to put on casual clothes like T-shirts and jeans on a daily basis, when they just sit in front of the screen to work and maybe have some chit-chat with their colleagues.

2. Why do some people like to wear traditional clothes?
I could never tell the reasons why some people are interested in wearing those traditional costumes until recently, when ao dai – the traditional vietnamese dresses or hanfu and horse face skirts – chinese dresses are all the rage. These trends might result from our wishes to preserve the long-standing tradition and culture of our country. You know, these clothing items can represent the cultural heritage, identity and uniqueness of a country and hence, when putting on traditional attire, we can have a deeper and more intimate connection to our ancestors, which means that we could never forget our roots. Also, many trendsetters or fashionistas may like to wear these garments for their aesthetic appeal and the fact that they can complement their body shapes and make them look more attractive. For example, Vietnamese traditional dresses or Cheongsam in China with their fancy costly silk material can accentuate the slimness of the waist and any curves on the wearers.

3. Will traditional clothes disappear in the future?
Without any doubt, the answer would be no. As a matter of fact, almost all countries have made their effort to preserve their cultural values, which for sure include traditional garments by encouraging their citizens to wear those items during national holidays or other special events, uploading and promoting the images of people in traditional clothes on social network like tiktok, facebook or instagram. On top of that, I think clothing with long-standing cultural values may also be revived to fit into modern life when many fashion designers have tried to incorporate some patterns, design, fabrics or unique colours of traditional clothes into our common items to create some very interesting combination that also helps to protect conventional values. That’s how we have the trend to wear Ao dai with different necklines or prints, and that’s how ao dai is going to live forever in Vietnamese culture.

4. Do old people change their style of dressing?
I mean of course, yes, it’s important for us all to understand that when people age, their bodies change, so their fashion style may also need to adapt so that they can feel comfortable and confident in the clothes that they choose carefully to flatter their body types and complement their features. To be more specific, when people get older, as their metabolism may not work as effectively as it used to, the elderly may have more fat on their backs, thighs or waist, meaning that it can be uncomfortable to put on skin-tight outfits. Besides, many people at the age of over 60 usually wear something their friends in, let’s say a retirement home, usually wear to have a sense of belonging. In this case, they can feel so isolated if they have some colour block dress on while others are wearing loose-fitting clothing in neutral colours.
