Why is family bonding necessary for happiness in life?
1. How many generations usually live together in your country?
Typically, there are three generations in a family in Vietnam, including grandparents, parents, and children. However, these days, nuclear families are becoming more common. With housing prices soaring, people tend to avoid buying large houses, making it difficult to accommodate a three-generation household.
- nuclear families (n) gia đình nhỏ, chỉ gồm 2 thế hệ cùng sinh sống bao gồm bố mẹ và con cái
- soar (v) tăng mạnh và nhanh
- accommodate (v) đáp ứng, cung cấp chỗ ở
2. Is it important to visit family members?
Definitely, especially for families where members live far apart. Visiting each other frequently not only strengthens family bonds but also allows children to learn about family relationships. For example, when parents form close-knit relationships with their siblings and show respect to their own parents, they set a good example for their children to develop similar behaviors toward their own siblings and parents.
- Strengthen family bonds: Thắt chặt mối quan hệ gia đình
- Close-knit relationships: Mối quan hệ khăng khít
- Set a good example: Làm gương tốt
3. What are the values of family in your country?
Two most important virtues in the Vietnamese culture “filial piety” and “respect”. These concepts generally mean taking care of and respecting the parents and elders. That’s the reason why it is common in Vietnam for many generations to live under one roof to support and look after each other.
- filial piety: tính hiếu thảo
4. Why is family bonding necessary for happiness in life?
It is because family is where people receive unconditional love and support, thanks to which they feel secure and mentally stable to deal with challenges in life. No matter what life throws at them, a person can face it with resilience, knowing they have a loving family ready to forgive and appreciate both their flaws and strengths. Therefore, I believe that family relationships are the foundation of long-term individual well-being.
- Secure (adj) an toàn, an tâm
- Resilience (n) khả năng phục hồi, sự kiên cường
