What can we do to prevent losing important things?
What would you do if you saw something valuable but didn’t belong to you on the street?
1. What kinds of people may lose things often?
Various people may misplace things frequently, like those who are naturally absent-minded. They don’t usually know when they have misplaced something because they are easily distracted and oblivious to where they put their things. For example, students who go between one class and another in a rush might leave their notebooks or stationery behind without even realizing it. Another group is those with a hectic lifestyle who may easily forget even their most important things. Busy professionals often misplace their cell phones and wallets simply because they constantly juggle multiple tasks at once.
- absent-minded: đãng trí
- oblivious to sth: không chú ý, nhận thức tới gì
- hectic lifestyle: lối sống bận rộn
- juggle multiple tasks: xoay xở nhiều việc
2. What can we do to prevent losing important things?
To avoid losing things, a person can simply establish a routine to reinforce memory and prevent misplacement. For example, placing your keys, phone, and wallet in the same spot, like in a valet tray, when you get home can prevent forgetfulness. One other way is to utilize technology-based tools. People nowadays can attach Bluetooth trackers, such as Apple AirTag, to valuable items. These devices help users find lost belongings through their smartphones. It’s so convenient, especially for those who are prone to losing things.
- establish a routine: thiết lập một thói quen
3. What would you do if you saw something valuable but didn’t belong to you on the street?
If I found a valuable item on the street, my first response would be to look around to see if anyone nearby was searching for it. If it were something small, perhaps a wallet or phone, I would check for its identification to see if any information could help contact its owner. However, if it were more challenging to trace and return, like cash, I would probably hand it to a nearby police station or lost-and-found center. Keeping something from others doesn’t sit right with me, so I would choose to have peace of mind and return it, knowing I had done the right thing.
- identification: thông tin nhận dạng, danh tính
- trace: theo dõi, lần theo
- lost-and-found center: trung tâm thất lạc đồ đạc
- not sit right with sb: không ổn đối với ai đó
- peace of mind: cảm giác yên tâm, bình yên
