1. Why do so many people lack confidence these days?
I think there are several reasons why people lack confidence nowadays. One big factor is the pressure from social media, where people often compare themselves to others. Many feel inadequate when they see the success or the “perfect” lives others portray online. Another reason could be the increasing pressure to meet high expectations, whether in work, studies, or personal life. If someone feels like they aren’t meeting these expectations, it can lead to self-doubt. Mental health issues, like anxiety, have also become more common, and this can affect a person’s confidence as well.
- Lack confidence (v): thiếu tự tin
- Compare themselves to (v): so sánh bản thân với
- Self-doubt (n): sự nghi ngờ bản thân
2. Do you think that children of confident parents are also confident?
Yes, in many cases, children of confident parents tend to be more confident themselves. This is because parents often model behaviors that their children pick up on. If a child sees their parent handling challenges calmly and with self-assurance, they are likely to adopt a similar mindset. However, confidence can also depend on other factors, like the environment the child is raised in, their own personality, and experiences. So while confident parents can certainly influence their children, it’s not guaranteed.
- Handle challenges (v): giải quyết thử thách
- Model behaviors (v): làm gương cho hành vi
3. What can teachers do to make studying more interesting?
Teachers can make studying more interesting by using creative teaching methods. For instance, incorporating multimedia like videos, interactive games, or group discussions can engage students more effectively than traditional lectures. Additionally, linking lessons to real-life situations helps students understand the relevance of what they are learning. Giving students the opportunity to explore topics they are curious about can also foster a greater interest in studying.
- Incorporate (v): kết hợp
- Real-life situations (n): tình huống thực tế
4. How can teachers help their students become more confident by rewarding them for studying?
Rewarding students for their efforts can be a powerful way to boost their confidence. Teachers can do this by recognizing both small and large achievements. For instance, offering praise when a student makes progress, even if it’s minor, can encourage them to keep improving. Rewards don’t always have to be material; verbal recognition or positive feedback in front of the class can also make students feel valued and confident in their abilities.
- Verbal recognition (n): sự công nhận bằng lời
5. What can teachers do to help their students become more confident?
Teachers can help their students build confidence by creating a supportive and positive learning environment. Encouraging participation, without fear of judgment or failure, helps students feel safe to express their ideas. Teachers should also focus on personalized feedback, highlighting not only areas for improvement but also strengths, so students understand what they’re doing well. Moreover, setting realistic goals and helping students achieve them step by step can gradually build their confidence over time.
- Create a supportive environment (v): tạo môi trường hỗ trợ
6. How can a person become more confident?
Becoming more confident takes time and practice, but it can definitely be achieved. One of the most important steps is to challenge negative self-talk and replace it with positive affirmations. People can also build confidence by stepping out of their comfort zones—taking small risks and facing fears. Another way is to focus on personal achievements and progress, rather than comparing oneself to others. Lastly, developing a new skill or improving on an existing one can also provide a sense of accomplishment, which naturally boosts confidence.
- Challenge negative self-talk (v): thách thức suy nghĩ tiêu cực về bản thân
