Why do young people change things more often than old people?
Why do some people like to buy expensive things?

1. Does consumption have any impact on the environment?

Of course it does, think about this: the manufacturing, transportation, and usage of products require energy, primarily derived from fossil fuels. This contributes to the depletion of non-renewable energy sources and increases greenhouse gas emissions. Also, the demand for agricultural products, timber, and urban development leads to deforestation and habitat destruction. This results in the loss of biodiversity and disruption of ecosystems.

2. Why do people always want to buy new things to replace old ones?

I think it’s largely because shiny, glamorous items are often considered the symbol of social status, which nearly everyone hankers. Society often equates owning the latest products with higher social status and success. Marketing and advertising campaigns play a significant role in creating a desire for the newest trends, making people feel the need to keep up with their peers.

  • hankers: thèm muốn
  • equates: đánh đồng

3. Why do you think some people replace things more often than others?

One factor could be income disparities. People with higher disposable incomes can afford to replace items more frequently. Their financial capability allows them to indulge in the latest products and trends without financial strain. Another thing to consider is that people are more susceptible to perceived obsolescence, where they believe their current items are outdated even if they are still functional. This perception is often fueled by marketing strategies that highlight the newest features and innovations.

  • obsolescence: sự lỗi thời

4. Why do young people change things more often than old people?

Young people often have a stronger desire for novelty and new experiences. They are more likely to seek out the latest trends and innovations, driven by a curiosity to explore and experience new things. They are also more susceptible to social influence and peer pressure, thus making them more likely to feel the need to keep up with their peers in terms of fashion, technology, and lifestyle choices, leading to more frequent replacements.

5. Why do some people like to buy expensive things?

Expensive items are often associated with higher quality, better materials, and superior craftsmanship. Consumers may believe that spending more money will result in a product that lasts longer and performs better, providing better value over time. We should also remember that cultural norms and societal expectations can influence purchasing behavior. In some cultures, owning luxury items is a common way to demonstrate success and conformity to societal standards.

  • superior craftsmanship: kỹ nghệ vượt trội

6. Why do some people prefer to buy things in the supermarket rather than online?

In a supermarket, customers can physically inspect products before buying. They can check the quality, freshness, and expiration dates of food items, and see the actual size and condition of other products. This is exemplified with food and clothing, which the majority of people would be unlikely to purchase from their home, despite the inherent luxury.
