Câu trả lời mẫu (Sample Answer) E-books and paper books IELTS Speaking Part 1
1. Which do you prefer, e-books or paper books?
I Definitely go for e-books. I know many people would rather read paper-covered books, and clearly it has certain benefits such as the physical feeling of holding a book and turning its pages. The pleasant smell of paper books also evoke nostalgic and comforting feelings, so it can encourage people to read more. However, these merits, to me, are nothing compared to those offered by e-books because they allow me to read anywhere at any time during the day.
- evoke (a feeling) (v) khơi gợi, khơi dậy (cảm xúc)
2. When do you usually read online?
Actually I do so whenever I can. Reading online means a lot to me personally and professionally. I have always been a big fan of novels, and the internet happens to be the biggest source of fascinating stories, so it’s like heaven for a bookworm like me. I also find myself turning to the Internet when I need to search for information related to life and work.
- be a big fan of something: = be very interested in something: là fan cuồng của…
- happen to be (v) tình cờ là…
- bookworm (n) mọt sách
3. Will you read more online in the future?
I don’t see why not. I’ve already considered myself a full-time online reader. Paper books are no longer an option for me, as my job involves lots of traveling. Therefore, carrying a physical book around isn’t that convenient, and sometimes it can even be a challenge.
- involve something (v) đòi hỏi …
4. Do you think paper books will disappear in the future?
I am rather on the fence about this, but I think it’s very likely. There are people who love reading physical books, but the number has declined considerably in the last few years. Paper books can still be the older generation’s favorite, but they become increasingly irrelevant to the younger generations.
- be on the fence about something: không chắc (về cái gì)
- become irrelevant to someone: trở nên không còn quan trọng (với ai đó)
