3. Bài mẫu
The diagram illustrates how geothermal energy is harnessed in a power plant to generate electricity.
Overall, electricity production involves five main stages, beginning with cold water being pumped deep underground and ending with a generator producing electricity. In particular, underground heat is first used to raise the temperature of the water, which is subsequently converted into steam to drive the machinery responsible for electricity generation.
Initially, cold water is pumped approximately 4.5 kilometres below the surface through an injection well, allowing it to reach a geothermal zone consisting of hot rocks. The water then passes horizontally through this heated underground area, where it absorbs geothermal heat and consequently rises in temperature. After being heated, the water enters a separate production well and is pumped back towards the surface, completing the underground stage of the process.
Once above ground, the hot water is directed into a condenser, where it is converted into steam, enabling the geothermal heat absorbed underground to be used to power the plant’s machinery. The resulting steam is subsequently channelled towards a turbine, causing it to rotate. This rotating turbine then powers a generator, which ultimately produces electricity, thereby converting geothermal heat into electrical energy through a sequence of underground and mechanical processes.
