Câu trả lời mẫu (Sample Answer)

1. Do you like singing? Why?

(Bạn có thích hát không? Vì sao?)

Sample 1: Absolutely not! Even though I am an avid music lover and I’m a huge fan of an eclectic mix of music genres, sadly I can’t carry a tune or I’m even tone-deaf. I just can’t bear my singing voice. I wish I had been born with an extraordinary and silky voice, so I would’ve been a prominent pop icon now.

  • avid music lover: người say mê âm nhạc
  • carry a tune: hát đúng tông giọng
  • Tone-deaf: không phân biệt được độ cao âm nhạc (pitches)
  • silky voice: giọng hát mềm mại

Sample 2: Yes, sure. Singing has always been one of my perennial hobbies. To me, it is the most effective stress reliever because when I sing, I forget all burdens and merely focus on the lyrics and the melody. Besides, I also love to sing while taking a shower, which somehow enhances my self-esteem. Despite not singing in tune, I can still enthusiastically and confidently burst into songs without being judged.

  • Perennial (adj) kéo dài từ rất lâu
  • Stress reliever (n) liều thuốc giảm stress
  • Sing in tune: hát đúng nhịp
  • Burst into songs (v) đột nhiên bật hát

2. Will you take singing lessons in the future?

(Bạn sẽ học hát trong tương lai chứ?)

I’d say no, never in my wildest dream have I wanted to take singing lessons. It’s the last thing I want to do in my bucket list. It may sound like I’m a half glass empty kind of person to you but personally speaking I find taking voice lessons really necessary as it is actually of little help to  my career. I’d rather spend money and time doing things helping me to climb up my corporate ladder.

  • my bucket list: danh sách những thứ muốn làm trước khi chết
  • half glass empty person: người bi quan

2.1. Have you ever learnt to sing?

Passionate about singing yet tone-deaf as I am, sadly I have not had any chance to be properly trained by any institutions. Anyway, I am not big on joining the show business so I don’t think attending any singing courses right now is judicious.

  • Tone-deaf (adj) tông điếc
  • Be big on something (adj) thích cái gì rất nhiều
  • Judicious (adj) khôn ngoan

3. When do you sing?

(Khi nào bạn hát?)

Well, as I was saying, I’m not at all into singing. That said, I still sing on some very special occasions. My friends and I often do some karaoke singing when one of us celebrates something special like birthdays or wedding ceremonies. That’s when I usually sing my heart out and really sing to my heart’s content and sometimes I am overjoyed to receive nice compliments from friends.

  • sing my heart out: hát cho thỏa nỗi lòng
  • overjoyed : cực kì hạnh phúc

3.1. Who do you want to sing for?

I am not a professional singer therefore I don’t have any specific audience in mind that I want to sing for. However, I want to sing for my family and my closest friends as a way to express myself and my gratitude to them. Moreover, they are the only ones who can tolerate my horrid voice, which tends to run out of breath once in a while.

  • Horrid (adj) kinh khủng
  • Out of breath (adj) hết hơi
  • Once in a while (idm) thỉnh thoảng

4. Do you think singing can bring happiness to people?

(Bạn có nghĩ rằng ca hát có thể mang lại hạnh phúc cho con người?)

Sample 1: Without a doubt, singing can be a fantastic way to relieve stress and really take a load off your mind. Doing some karaoke every now and then can be a perfect chance for everyone to gather around and have a blast together. That’s why people often sing upbeat and cheerful songs during these get-togethers.

  • relieve stress: giải tỏa căng thẳng
  • every now and then: thỉnh thoảng
  • have a blast: có nhiều niềm vui
  • Upbeat: sôi động

Sample 2: I sure believe so. Most notably, singing is a way for people to release stress without the need to verbalize what is actually burdening them. To some, expressing themselves in words may be very painful and challenging, nevertheless, that would be eased by melodies and lyrics. Eventually, they can have a sense of joy and fulfillment that contributes to their overall happiness. In addition, singing can bring a sense of community. Singing in a choir or performing with friends can foster social connection, which is an important factor in general well-being

  • Verbalize (adj) diễn đạt bằng lời
  • Ease (v) khiến cái gì trở nên đơn giản, dễ dàng
  • Fulfillment (n) sự hài lòng, dễ chịu
  • A sense of community: ý thức cộng đồng
  • Foster (v) khuyến khích
  • Well-being (n) tình trạng khỏe mạnh và hạnh phúc
