1. Do you like The area you live in?
Obviously, I do since I live there, but to be honest, things could be better. The neighborhood is charming enough, but when it’s high tide, the surrounding is pretty much Atlantics on land. Areas of District 7 adjacent to a tributary of the Saigon river are submerged. The average water level is about half a bike wheel, so it’s almost impossible to travel on certain streets.
2. Where do you like to go in that area?
Most locals would recommend the Crescent Moon Lake of the famed Phu My Hung complex as the go-to place. As for myself, I prefer the bustling area around Ton Duc Thang university for its countless f&b vendors and the vibrant atmosphere of youth.
3. Do you know any famous people in your area?
As a matter of fact, I do. There are a few celebrities around my neighborhood. There’s the family of the nationally famous footballer Cong Vinh and the singer Di Bang. I suppose there are others as well, but I’m not a social butterfly, so it’s out of my scope.
4. What are some changes in the area recently?
The most recent change would probably is the construction of the dam – barrier around the riverside of the district. Those are built to gate off the excess water during high tide so as not to let it floods the street. Unfortunately, the project takes too long to process, and it backfires halfway because the unfinished dam raises the flood level.
