Bài mẫu (Sample Answer)

To be honest, I’m not an early bird at all. So normally, getting up early is a difficult habit for me. Most of the time, I try to finish all the homework at night and stay in bed until it’s close to my school time. However, there was a time when I actually wanted to establish a new good habit of getting up early, because people said that it would make me more productive and energetic when I can do that every day. For another reason, I can have more time to do what I want. So, on a summery day last year, I decided to kick-start the plan of getting up at 6 am  instead of 7 am like before. In order to do that, I hit the sheets quite early, before 10 pm on the day before, and set the alarm to ring at full volume at 6 AM.

Fortunately, I could successfully wake up and get out of bed at the time that I planned even though I was not very wide awake, actually. So I made a cup of coffee to help me and read a novel. But reading made me even more sleepy. I fell asleep on the table after finishing 2 pages of the book. After that day,  I think that I’m born to be a night owl and I will never try to adopt the habit of getting up early again.

Từ vựng (Vocabulary Highlight)

  • an early bird (n): người dậy sớm
  • kick-start (v): khởi động
  • a night owl (n): người “cứu đêm”

Part 3:

1. What kinds of people usually get up early? Why?

I think the elderly tend to do so, like my grandma. It may be because the older you get, the less melatonin, the hormone that helps people sleep soundly you get. They can’t sleep deeply, their sleeping just lasts over 4 hours. Moreover, people who work far away from home have to get up at dawn for their jobs. They often have to get up early 1 or 2 hours to get ready for work

  • Get up at dawn (v): dậy sớm

2. Is it easier for older people to get up early than young people?

Definitely, yes. While my sisters and I always find it hard to get up before our school time, my grandmother always wakes up at 5 am. This is because their health is not in good condition, at least not as good as when they were younger. The younger people need 7 or 8 hours of sleep every night to recharge their batteries after a hard-working day.

  • Recharge one’s batteries (v): lấy lại năng lượng

3. What are the benefits of getting up early?

From what I read, this habit brings many benefits. The most prime one is that the bodies will have more time to get ready for intense activities later in the day with some relaxing activities. The earlier you get up, the more time you do a lot of things. You can do more things you want instead of sleeping in.

  • Sleep in (v): ngủ nướng

4. Why do some people go to sleep late at night?

In my opinion, it is because usually, they spend most of their day time distracted from their important tasks, surfing the Internet, watching films or chatting with friends.  And when the day is about to finish, they just freak out and rush to complete their work. Moreover, the silence at night gives you quiet space to concentrate on working or studying. The motivation of sleeping assists you in meeting deadlines.

  • Freak out (v): hoảng loạn, lo sợ, sợ hãi
  • Assist in (v): hỗ trợ
  • Meet deadlines (v): hoàn thành nhiệm vụ

5. Do you think the morning is the best part of the day?

No, I don’t. Personally, I think the best part of the day is evening. This is because the feeling when you let your hair down after a long day working hard is very sublime. I do like mornings, but it’s not my favorite part of the day due to stress in the morning: waking up early, getting ready or being late for school. However, it’s also the important part to start a day.

  • Let one’s hair down (v): thư giãn
  • Sublime (a): tuyệt vời

6. What time do you usually get up? And do you like getting up early?

As I mentioned above, I often wake up at 7 am. But it’s not fixed. If I have something which needs doing, I will get up earlier at 5 am or 6 am. Especially on weekends, I allow myself to lie on a warm bed until I’m hungry. I don’t like getting up early. A time when you get up early makes you feel more tired after a short, slight sleep. However, I always try my best to sleep as early as possible to have a great deal of time to upgrade myself.
