1. Do you think people enjoy doing things in groups?

I think it depends on each individual. Some people prefer solitary tasks because of their characteristics and working style. They may find it difficult to delegate tasks and having faith in others, compared to working alone, in which these people can entirely control their work progress. However, there are those who are strongly in favor of group work. These are what l’d like to call “extraverted” people, who are interested in engaging with their environment and they feed off the responses of others around them. This type of people often opt for collaborative work or tasks that require a number of involved parties.

2. Can you tell me about different jobs that people do either themselves or do in groups?

As I see it, certain occupations are better done alone than in a team such as creative work. Some of my friends who are graphic designers and artists told me that they find other people distracting to their job since they can’t let their creativity flow. I suppose it’s also because they are difficult to work with due to their disagreeable nature.

On the other hand, many jobs require group work. For example, if a person specializes in Logistics or Human resource management, it’s extremely crucial that he or she cooperates with others, since the yielded result is a collective work.

3. Do you think some people don’t like each other in the workplace? Why?

I strongly believe that there is usually some sort of feud going on between 2 people at some point in their lives. And especially at work where there are personality clashes. Each individual is entitled to his/her own opinions and sometimes their opinions conflict with one another, leading to countless arguments and in the worst scenario – hatred. Experts have proven that there are task-oriented and relationship-oriented people, meaning one values the desirable outcome over other people’s sentimental factors and vice versa. In a company, these different personality traits are necessary to be work-efficient of course, but at the same time, it can cause undesirable conflict.

  • entitled to his/her own opinions: có quyền được có ý kiến ​​riêng của anh ấy/cô ấy
  • task-oriented and relationship-oriented people: người định hướng đến công việc và người định hướng đến quan hệ

4. What personalities should a good leader have?

Well, there are a number of traits that are expected of a leader, including integrity and good communication. The former is pretty obvious since top-level executives, who are in charge of the whole organization and making significant decisions, should be fair and impartial to everyone to ensure the members’ job satisfaction. The latter – communication is intertwined with effective leadership as it can directly affect the success of a group or organization. These two personalities contribute significantly to make a great leader.
