Câu trả lời mẫu (Sample Answer)

1. Why are people friendly with the person they don’t like?

Well, I’m thinking of quite a few reasons for this kind of behaviour. If we are talking about people in their workplaces, they are supposed to get on well with their colleagues to make sure that their work can run smoothly. It is basically because these days, most of their work requires the collaboration of some people, and friendly behaviours seem to help people receive favourable attitudes from their fellows. That would really benefit them especially when they are in trouble at work, their colleagues would be willing to give a hand.

  • run smoothly: diễn ra suôn sẻ
  • fellow (n) đồng nghiệp
  • be in trouble: gặp rắc rối
  • give a hand (phrase) giúp đỡ

2. What are some qualities of a good friendship?

I’ve been mulling this over for a while, and I believe that there are multiple factors that help establish a healthy friendship. For one thing, there should be reciprocity in a relationship, which can be referred to as a mutual feeling of appreciation from the other. I mean, people cannot say they are fulfilled when they do wonderful things for their friends without their efforts being recognized and appreciated. I can tell from my own experience that I had last year, on my friend’ birthday, I spent hours on end making her a hand-made card, but she seemed to take it for granted and received it as I was obligated to do it for her, without even saying thanks.

  • mull over: nghiền ngẫm
  • mutual feeling (n) cảm xúc chung
  • take it for granted (phrase) coi là điều đương nhiên
  • be obligated to do smth: bị bắt làm gì

3. Is it important for people to have a good friendship with their colleagues?

Honestly, I’m in two minds about this. On the one hand, forging friendships with colleagues could be a crucial element to create a happy working life. When employees can build up a strong bond in the workplace, there are virtually no barriers among them. Therefore, they are able to comfortably speak their mind and be more empathetic when it comes to settling conflicts arising when they work. That said, for some coworkers who cannot get along, they don’t need to force themselves to befriend or pretend to be good friends with their colleagues. Instead, they can maintain polite manners when collaborating, showing respect to others. To me, it is an index of their professionalism.

  • in two minds (phrase) phân vân
  • bond (n) mối quan hệ
  • speak one’s mind: nói lên suy nghĩ
  • an index of smth: biểu thị, biểu tượng cho cái gì
