Why do people feel happy when they are with members of their family?
1. Do you think people who have more talent are happier than others?
It’s difficult to say, as the sense of fulfillment varies from person to person. That said, having a natural talent can certainly bring a sense of joy and satisfaction. For instance, someone with a knack for music may feel deeply fulfilled when mastering a new piece and confidently performing it for their loved ones. If they turn their talent into a career, it becomes even more rewarding, as they can seamlessly merge passion with profession – something many people dream of. However, this doesn’t mean that those with fewer or no innate abilities experience less happiness. At the end of the day, true fulfillment often comes from gratitude and contentment, rather than extraordinary skills. People who appreciate what they have and find meaning in their own journey can lead equally, if not more, fulfilling lives.
- varies from person to person: (hạnh phúc) là khác nhau ở mỗi người
- a knack for music: có năng khiếu về âm nhạc
- merge passion with profession: kết hợp đam mê và công việc
- Contentment: sự bằng lòng
2. Do you think money makes people happy?
I can’t deny that money can contribute to happiness, and I believe many would agree with me. Retail therapy is a common way people cope with stress, and there’s a strong link between acquiring new items and a temporary sense of relief from frustration or anxiety. This is evident in today’s shopping habits, particularly on e-commerce platforms, where surging sales can, to some extent, be attributed to the desire to experience a momentary boost in mood through purchasing. That said, material possessions often provide only fleeting joy. True happiness stems from inner peace, emotional resilience and personal growth. If people become overly reliant on money to find satisfaction, they may eventually feel unfulfilled and even develop deeper emotional struggles. In the long run, an excessive focus on monetary value as a source of happiness could be counterproductive, leading to dissatisfaction rather than genuine contentment.
- retail therapy: mua sắm để giải trí
- a temporary sense of relief: cảm giác vui vẻ tạm thời
- a momentary boost in mood: tâm trạng tốt lên tạm thời
- emotional resilience: sự mạnh mẽ trong tâm hồn
- Counterproductive: phản tác dụng
3. Are the things that make people happy today the same as several decades ago?
There are surely some marked differences in the way people sought happiness in the past and how they pursue it today. While strong relationships and personal achievements have always been sources of joy, modern life has introduced new ways to find fulfillment. Decades ago, happiness was often tied to simple pleasures like family time and outdoor activities. Today, with technology and consumerism, people increasingly seek joy through social media, digital entertainment, and material possessions. Nevertheless, the essence of happiness remains unchanged, as people still crave emotional connections and a sense of purpose, even if how they achieve them has evolved.
- marked differences: khác biệt rõ rệt
- sought happiness: (seek/find/ pursue happiness): tìm kiếm hạnh phúc
- consumerism: chủ nghĩa tiêu dùng
- material possessions: sở hữu vật chất
4. Why do people feel happy when they are with members of their family?
To my mind, people feel happy around their family primarily because of the deep affection and unconditional support shared among family members. Being surrounded by loved ones fosters a sense of belonging and emotional security, which naturally enhances happiness. On the other hand, not everyone has the same experience. Those from dysfunctional or underprivileged families may feel quite the opposite, as strained relationships or financial hardships can lead to stress rather than comfort. Ultimately, while family is a source of joy for many, it isn’t universally the case.
- deep affection and unconditional support: tình cảm và sự ủng hộ vô điều kiện
- sense of belonging and emotional security: cảm thấy mình có nơi để thuộc về và cảm giác an toàn
- dysfunctional or underprivileged families: nhưng gia đình kém may mắn
