1. Phân tích đề bài
1.1. Đề bài
Today many children spend a lot of time playing computer games and little on sports. Why is it? Is it postive or negative development?
(Ngày nay, nhiều trẻ em dành rất nhiều thời gian để chơi trò chơi điện tử và rất ít thời gian cho thể thao.
Tại sao lại như vậy? Đây là một sự phát triển tích cực hay tiêu cực?)
1.2. Phân tích đề bài
Dạng bài: 2-question essay (gồm hai câu hỏi → bắt buộc trả lời đầy đủ: giải thích nguyên nhân + đánh giá xu hướng là tích cực hay tiêu cực).
Keyword:
- a lot of time → rất nhiều thời gian, thời lượng lớn
- playing computer games → chơi game trên máy tính/thiết bị điện tử
- little on sports → ít tham gia thể thao, ít vận động
- Why is it? → nguyên nhân của hiện tượng này
- positive or negative development → xu hướng tích cực hay tiêu cực
Lưu ý
- Đây không phải opinion essay dạng 1 câu hỏi → bắt buộc phải trả lời cả hai phần: nguyên nhân + đánh giá.
- Không liệt kê lợi–hại của game hoặc thể thao một cách chung chung → phải gắn trực tiếp với việc trẻ chơi game nhiều và chơi thể thao ít.
- Tránh biến bài thành discussion essay (thảo luận hai ý kiến)

1.3. Dàn bài
Introduction
- Paraphrase the topic.
- Briefly state that there are clear reasons for the trend and that it is largely negative.
Body Paragraph 1 – Reasons why children spend more time on computer games
- Easy access to digital devices at home.
- Games are designed to be addictive and rewarding.
- Parental safety concerns reduce outdoor playtime.
- Academic pressure leaves little time for sports.
Body Paragraph 2 – Why this is a negative development
- Leads to health problems (obesity, poor fitness).
- Reduces social interaction and teamwork skills.
- Creates dependency on screens and weakens discipline.
- Sports provide long-term physical and emotional benefits that games cannot replace.
Conclusion
- Restate main reasons and clearly say it is negative overall.
2. Bài mẫu
Children today tend to spend far more time playing computer games than engaging in physical sports. This trend can be explained by several social and technological factors, and I believe it is largely a negative development.
One major reason for this pattern is the widespread availability of digital devices. Most households now own smartphones, tablets, or gaming consoles, making it extremely easy for children to access games at any time. Many modern games are intentionally designed to be highly stimulating and rewarding, which keeps young players engaged for long periods. In addition, many parents worry about safety when children play outside, so they often allow indoor activities instead. Academic pressure also plays a role, as children who spend long hours studying may prefer quick, relaxing digital entertainment rather than organised sports.
However, this shift brings more harm than good. Excessive gaming reduces the amount of physical movement children get, increasing the risk of obesity and weakening their physical fitness. It also limits opportunities to build social skills, such as teamwork and communication, which are naturally developed through sports. Furthermore, spending too much time on screens can create unhealthy habits and reduce children’s ability to focus or practice time management effectively. By contrast, regular participation in sports encourages discipline, resilience, and long-term physical well-being, benefits that gaming cannot provide.
In conclusion, although there are clear reasons why children favour computer games over sports, this trend is overwhelmingly negative because it affects their health, social development, and personal growth.
