2. Bài mẫu
The changes to the town of Felixstone from 1967 to 2001 are illustrated in the two given maps.
Overall, it can be seen that Felixstone had experienced considerable modernization, and it apparently changed from a seaport town to a coastal tourist destination. This is demonstrated by the removal of certain parts in the beach area at the southern section of the map, as well as relocations and establishments of specific accommodations in the northern section.
Looking at the northern area of the map, numerous changes attributed to modernization were identified. Aside from the exception of the golf course located near the northeastern corner that remained unchanged, half of the shopping area was demolished. The right row of shops next to High Street in 1967 had been converted into a neighborhood of apartment complexes in 2011. Additionally, in the northeastern corner, next to those apartments, a new hotel, which included two tennis courts and a swimming pool, was built on top of the original farmland area.
Moving to the southern section of the map (the beach area), across the long street in the middle, it is evident that the initial goal of industrialization had been pivoted to commercialization. This can be found in the removal of the pier, the marina, and the fish market. Instead, in 2011, a public beach and a private beach area were established to contribute to tourism. The dunes and the café remained, yet the hotel decided to expand a new carparking area, possibly to accommodate guests. Moreover, at sea, wind turbines were placed next to the sand dunes, indicating the adoption of environmentally friendly living.
