1. Bài mẫu (Sample)
One occasion when I was not allowed to use my mobile phone was when I took the IELTS Speaking exam. It was a few months ago at an official IELTS test center. Before entering the examination room, all candidates were required to leave their phones and electronic devices outside in a designated area. The staff were very strict about it because they wanted to ensure fairness and prevent any form of cheating.
To be honest, at that moment, I wasn’t too concerned about being separated from my phone. I was far more worried about the exam itself. I had been preparing for quite a while, so I was feeling quite anxious about my performance, whether I would answer fluently, whether I would run out of ideas, or whether I would misunderstand the examiner’s questions. Compared to that pressure, my phone seemed completely unimportant.
However, what’s interesting is that after I finished the exam, my attitude changed dramatically. Once I got my phone back, I started bringing it everywhere with me. I kept checking it constantly to see whether the results had been released. Even though I knew the official release date, I still refreshed my email and the results portal obsessively. It was almost ironic. During the exam, I didn’t care about my phone at all, but afterward, it became something I couldn’t stop checking.
Overall, being separated from my phone during the exam wasn’t difficult. The real challenge was dealing with the anticipation afterward.

They may not be as comfortable with new apps or digital trends as younger generations.

Sometimes when friends meet up, they may spend more time looking at their screens than actually talking to each other, which can weaken real-life connections.

For example, at concerts or family gatherings, some people spend the entire time recording videos rather than being present in the moment.
