Part 2: Describe a job that is useful to the society
You should say
- What job it is
- How you know about this job
- What types of people do this job
- And explain why you think this job is useful to the society
1. Bài mẫu (Sample)
To be honest, plenty of jobs sprang to my mind the moment I read the card, but I would choose to talk about garbage collectors, or, more formally, sanitation workers. To me, they are quiet heroes who work tirelessly to maintain public health and overall cleanliness, although their job is often underestimated by society.
Since I was a child, I have often seen garbage trucks making the rounds in my neighborhood every morning, with workers lifting heavy bins and sorting waste at the back. Sometimes, I saw them sweeping the streets under the scorching sun or in torrential rain. As I grew older, I learned more about their responsibilities and realized that without them, cities would quickly become overwhelmed with trash, leading to serious health and hygiene problems.
This is undoubtedly a physically demanding role, as workers have to start very early, sometimes in bad weather and unfavorable conditions. In fact, sanitation workers are exposed to serious occupational and environmental hazards, putting them at risk of illness, injury, and even death. Sadly, they are far too often invisible, undervalued, and socially excluded.
I believe that despite not requiring any academic qualifications, this job is essential to the functioning of any society. Garbage collectors help prevent the spread of disease by ensuring waste is properly removed and managed. They also contribute to a cleaner and more livable environment, which directly impacts the well-being of residents.
In short, sanitation workers provide an essential public service, but often at the cost of their dignity, safety, health, and living conditions. They deserve public acknowledgment and recognition just like workers in any other profession.

Part 3:
1. Do you think schools should provide career advice to students?
Of course. Early guidance helps students identify their strengths and weaknesses, thereby enabling them to make informed decisions about their future. This, in turn, prevents wasted time and resources on pursuing mismatched careers. In addition, learners can improve their practical skills through career orientation programs, thanks to workshops that guide them on how to write an effective résumé and conduct successful interviews with employers.
Vocabulary:
- résumé: sơ yếu lý lịch
- strengths and weaknesses: điểm mạnh và điểm yếu
- enabling: cho phép
- mismatched careers: nghề nghiệp không phù hợp
- career orientation programs: chương trình hướng nghiệp
2. Who should receive a higher salary, young people or older people?
I personally believe that the amount of money a person earns should be determined not by age but by their performance and contributions. Both older and younger generations have unique strengths. Generally, older workers possess many years of experience, bringing stability and wisdom to the workplace. Meanwhile, younger employees often contribute creative and innovative ideas, and they are usually more willing to be flexible and adaptable. Therefore, each organization should develop a fair salary system where employees are rewarded based on what they achieve rather than their birth date.
Vocabulary:
- stability: sự ổn định
- determined: quyết định
- performance and contributions: kết quả công việc và sự cống hiến
3. Do you think doctors should be well-paid?
Yes, I do think so for several reasons. First, a person has to spend years in rigorous learning and training to become a doctor, so a high salary would be worthy compensation for their time and effort. In addition, doctors usually work under intense pressure, as even a small mistake could cause serious consequences, and every decision is critical to a patient’s future.
Vocabulary:
- intense pressure: áp lực lớn
- rigorous: khắt khe
- worthy compensation: sự đền bù xứng đáng
4. What kind of jobs deserve a high salary?
In my opinion, any job that brings real value to society should be well-paid. This includes highly skilled professions like surgeons and teachers, as well as essential but often overlooked roles such as sanitation workers. While their responsibilities may differ, all of them make significant contributions to public well-being and deserve fair financial recognition.
Vocabulary:
- overlooked: bị bỏ qua
- highly skilled professions: công việc đòi hỏi tay nghề cao
5. What kind of jobs receive a low income?
Usually, jobs considered “low-skilled” or requiring minimal formal education, such as cashiers, waiters, or cleaners, are not very well-paid. This is because such positions often involve repetitive tasks and are easy to replace, so workers may not earn as much as those in high-skilled professions. Another reason is the underestimation and lack of recognition from the public, even though many of these occupations are essential for everyday life.
Vocabulary:
- lack of recognition: thiếu sự công nhận
- minimal formal education: giáo dục chính quy tối thiểu
- underestimation: sự đánh giá thấp
6. What kind of jobs are well-paid in your country?
In my country, people working in the medical field, such as doctors and surgeons, have been among the highest earners for years. One notable example is plastic surgeons, who nowadays tend to earn a large sum of money due to rising demand in cosmetic procedures. In addition, technology-related jobs, such as IT developers, have also seen a significant increase in income as the world enters a booming digital era.
Vocabulary:
- cosmetic procedures: thủ thuật thẩm mỹ
