Part 3
Why do people go to visit tourist attractions?
Do local people like to visit local tourist attractions?
Do you think tourism causes environmental damage?
Should all tourist attractions be free to the public?
1. Why do people go to visit tourist attractions?
Why is the sky blue? Why does a chicken cross the road? Because it’s fun to do so. I could hardly think of a reason why anyone wouldn’t enjoy a change of scenery.
2. Do local people like to visit local tourist attractions?
Well, the locals where I live probably don’t. Folks generally prefer novelties so they would rather patron new establishments like Instagram-able cafes than going to museums on the weekends.
- novelties: những thứ mới lạ
- patron: ủng hộ
- Instagram-able cafes: quán cà phê đẹp để chụp ảnh Instagram
3. Do you think tourism causes environmental damage?
Obviously, but then again what doesn’t. The moment you step out of your house and step into a car, there’s fossils burned, and carbon emitted, polluting the air. And when you buy a ticket, or a plastic bottle of refreshing drink, there’s more trash in landfills, polluting the soil.
4. Should all tourist attractions be free to the public?
Gosh no, it would defeat the whole purpose of encouraging economic growth. Not to mention, so many establishments are private business, like theme parks or safaris. It is hardly fair for them to gain any profit from this. And as for public museums and the like, I suppose they can rely on souvenir sales to make up for the free admission.
- private business: doanh nghiệp tư nhân
- make up for: bù lại
- free admission: miễn phí vào cửa
