1. Bài mẫu (Sample)
As a people who has a strong family culture, it should come as no surprise that we Vietnamese have huge extended families. My family is no exception, and I have plenty of nieces and nephews, most of whom are toddlers, that I love spending time with. The last time I did that was at a house-warming party at my cousin’s place last year, when I got to spend time with my favorite niece.
So my niece was around 6 and was the daughter of my nearest cousin. Our families are close so we’ve always spent a lot of time together. Every time we meet, I would always bring her some treats and she would run to me with an eager smile, asking me to carry her on my back, and last time was no exception of course. I bought her a new Barbie doll and she just couldn’t hide her excitement when she saw it.

IELTS Speaking Part 3
1. Do you think that parents should make all decisions for their children?
Definitely not. Admittedly, they should do this in the early years of their children’s life as children lack the maturity and wisdom to make good decisions on their own. However, continuing to do so in their young-adult years could come off as being over-bearing and this would have negative consequences on their development. A person whose parents decide everything for them would undoubtedly lose their autonomy and would not be able to think for themselves, preventing them from becoming self-sufficient.

2. At what age do you think children can be trusted to make their own decisions?
Well, ideally, at 18. That’s the age when they are legally recognized as adults and go to university, when they’re expected to take charge of things and decide for themselves. Of course, some might say that at that age, people could still make stupid decisions, but they’ll be mature enough to learn from their mistakes and grow as a person.

3. What are some of the biggest challenges that parents face when raising children?
Financial challenges are pretty significant. Raising a child is undoubtedly costly, especially in this day and age where housing prices are just sky-high. Having the necessary emotional maturity is another challenge because it takes a lot of patience to deal with your child when they are not behaving and to calmly educate them. You also need to adequately meet their emotional needs as well, so that they grow up to become well-adjusted individuals, which I know many immature parents fail to achieve.
