Regarding environmental issues, some people believe they are too vast for individuals to tackle. Conversely, others argue that these problems cannot be solved unless individuals take action. Discuss both views and give your own opinion.

2. Bài mẫu
Environmental degradation has become a pressing global concern, leading to a debate over whether such large-scale issues are beyond the capacity of individuals to address. While some argue that only governments and multinational corporations can tackle these challenges, others believe that meaningful change cannot occur without individual action. This essay will discuss both perspectives before presenting my own view.
On the one hand, it is understandable why many people claim that environmental problems are too vast and complex for individuals to resolve. Issues such as climate change, deforestation, and ocean pollution are systemic in nature, often driven by industrial activities and weak regulatory frameworks. For instance, carbon emissions generated by multinational corporations far exceed those produced by individual households, making personal efforts seem insignificant by comparison. Without large-scale policy interventions, such as stricter environmental laws or international agreements, individual actions may have limited impact.
On the other hand, it is equally valid to argue that environmental protection must begin at the individual level. When people adopt eco-friendly habits, such as reducing plastic consumption, conserving energy, or using public transport, they collectively create a significant cumulative effect. Moreover, individuals can exert pressure on governments and businesses by supporting sustainable brands or participating in environmental campaigns. Grassroots movements, driven by ordinary citizens, have historically played a crucial role in raising awareness and influencing policy decisions.
In my opinion, although large institutions bear greater responsibility, individual actions are indispensable in addressing environmental issues. This is because governments often respond to public demand, and widespread behavioral change can act as a catalyst for broader systemic reforms. Therefore, a combination of top-down / bottom-up participation is the most effective approach.
In conclusion, while environmental problems may appear overwhelming for individuals alone, their role should not be underestimated. Only through the joint efforts of individuals, governments, and corporations can these challenges be effectively mitigated.
