1. What are the responsibilities of a father/mother in a family?
It is generally assumed that father is the breadwinner or mother is the homemaker. People would usually expect fathers to be tough men who can be extremely strict with their children and help them to become more disciplined. Meanwhile, mothers are people who always take care of them and love them, protect them unconditionally. I think this idea has become so old-fashioned as these days, both parents play equal roles in the family. They both share the responsibilities of earning money, doing household chores, and being a part of the audience when their kids perform at schools.
2. Are men and women equal in ability and intelligence?
Absolutely yes. Studies have shown that intelligence can be divided into different categories such as linguistic, musical, bodily – kinesthetic, interpersonal or intrapersonal intelligence. It means that everybody was born with their own ability or gift. And this has nothing to do with our genders.
3. Is it OK for men to cry?
Of course. This question reminds me of the speech at the UN Conference by Emma Watson. During that speech, she emphasizes that feminism is not only about women wanting this or that. It is about gender equality. That means we have to get rid of some toxic stereotypes such as men don’t cry or men have to be strong all the time. I believe that we need to feel free to express ourselves and it is okay to smile, to cry whether we are a man, a woman, or a person of the LGBTQ+ community. After all, we are humans and humans all have feelings, right?
4. What things can either men or women do that the other cannot do and why?
Well, to be honest, I cannot think of one. As I said earlier, I strongly believe that both genders are equal in ability and intelligence. There is nothing that men can do while women cannot and vice versa. For example, we have male and female doctors, police officers, pilots, world leaders or kindergarten teachers. I don’t wanna sound like a broken record, but again, genders have nothing to do with this kind of stuff.
