2. Bài mẫu
Environmental problems have become increasingly serious in recent decades. While some people believe that the extinction of plant and animal species is the most critical environmental issue because of its impact on biodiversity and ecosystems, others argue that broader problems such as climate change, pollution, and deforestation are even more urgent. In my opinion, although species extinction is a major concern, larger-scale environmental problems are more serious since they not only affect human life directly but also contribute significantly to biodiversity loss and the destruction of natural habitats.
On the one hand, many people believe that the extinction of plant and animal species is the most serious environmental problem because it can cause biodiversity loss, ecological imbalance, and irreversible damage to ecosystems. Since all species are interconnected within food chains, the disappearance of one organism may affect many others that rely on it for survival. For instance, the decline of bee populations in several countries has reduced pollination activities, threatening agricultural productivity and the reproduction of many plant species. In addition, species extinction can directly affect human life by limiting important sources of food and medicine. In Vietnam, many traditional remedies are made from natural ingredients such as medicinal herbs and rare forest plants, which have long been used to treat illnesses and improve public health. If these species disappear due to deforestation or environmental destruction, future generations may lose valuable medical resources and traditional knowledge. Therefore, many people consider biodiversity loss to be one of the most alarming environmental threats of our time.
On the other hand, I believe that broader environmental problems such as climate change, pollution, and deforestation are even more serious because they affect the entire planet and are major causes of species extinction itself. Global warming, mainly caused by greenhouse gas emissions, has resulted in rising temperatures, melting ice caps, and more frequent natural disasters, which destroy natural habitats and threaten wildlife survival. Similarly, air and water pollution caused by factories, vehicles, and plastic waste can contaminate ecosystems and kill marine and land animals. In Vietnam, for example, severe water pollution in some rivers has reduced fish populations and negatively affected local biodiversity. Deforestation is another pressing issue, as large areas of forest are cleared for agriculture and urban development every year. This not only contributes to climate change but also destroys the habitats of countless species, pushing many of them closer to extinction. Therefore, problems such as climate change and pollution should be prioritised because they are the root causes behind biodiversity loss and ecological damage.
In conclusion, the extinction of plants and animals is undoubtedly a serious environmental issue because it threatens biodiversity, ecological balance, and valuable resources for humans. However, I believe that broader environmental problems such as climate change, pollution, and deforestation should be considered more urgent, as they affect the entire planet and are the main causes of species extinction itself. Therefore, addressing these root problems is essential for protecting both ecosystems and human life in the long term.
