Body Paragraph 1: Expanding road infrastructure

Có thể tạo ra “điểm nghẽn” mới ở các khu vực giao cắt.

Ưu điểm: cải thiện lưu thông ngay lập tức, giảm tạm thời tình trạng tắc nghẽn.

Hạn chế:

Khuyến khích sử dụng ô tô nhiều hơn → ùn tắc quay trở lại.
Quỹ đất hạn chế trong đô thị → khó mở rộng vô hạn.

Body Paragraph 2: Developing rail and subway networks

Hạn chế: chi phí đầu tư ban đầu lớn, nhưng lợi ích lâu dài vượt trội so với chi phí.

Ưu điểm:

Phương tiện vận chuyển hiệu quả, đáng tin cậy và có sức chứa lớn.
Giảm sự phụ thuộc vào ô tô cá nhân → giảm ùn tắc lâu dài.
Không chịu ảnh hưởng bởi các vấn đề đường bộ (tai nạn, tắc đường).

Conclusion

Khẳng định lại quan điểm: Phát triển đường sắt và tàu điện ngầm là giải pháp tốt hơn.

2. Bài mẫu

While both strategies aim to ease the strain on transportation networks, I believe that the latter is a more effective long-term approach to addressing this issue.

One perspective is that constructing additional and broader roads can offer immediate benefits. By increasing road capacity, more cars can travel simultaneously, which helps to minimize delays and improve the flow of traffic. For example, cities like Houston have seen some success in reducing bottlenecks through the expansion of their highway systems. However, this approach has inherent limitations. Broader roads often lead to increased car usage, which can eventually result in the same or even greater levels of gridlock. Furthermore, in densely populated urban centers, there is often insufficient space to expand roads without disrupting existing structures, which can create new choke points and fail to resolve the problem.

In contrast, investing in rail and subway networks provides a more efficient and enduring solution. These systems can transport large numbers of people quickly and reliably, significantly decreasing the reliance on private cars. Cities such as Tokyo and Paris have demonstrated the effectiveness of robust metro systems in alleviating street-level crowding by offering a convenient alternative to driving. Additionally, rail systems operate on dedicated tracks, avoiding the delays caused by road traffic. Although the upfront costs are substantial, the long-term benefits in terms of reducing street congestion are considerable.

In conclusion, while expanding roads may offer temporary relief, developing rail and subway systems is a more effective long-term solution to urban traffic challenges. By reducing reliance on private cars and providing efficient alternatives, these systems directly address the root causes of congestion, making them the superior choice.
