The chart below shows the number of travellers using three major airports in New York City between 1995 and 2000.
Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.
The given bar chart compares the total number of travellers to three local airports, namely John F. Kennedy, LaGuardia and Newark in the period of 5 years, starting from 1995.
Overall, it is evident that while LaGuardia and Newark seemed to welcome an increasing amount of visitors throughout the examined period, the number of visitors to John F. Kennedy fluctuated noticeably. It is also important to note that 1997 witnessed a sharp increase in the number of travellers to two less popular airports, John F. Kennedy and Newark, making John F. Kennedy the most favoured airport among the three.
Starting at the highest point in 1995, LaGuardia welcomed the highest number of travellers, standing at 35 million. Until 1999, each year this airport welcomed more 5 million travellers steadily. Noticeably, at the end of the period, in 2000, the number of tourists coming to LaGuardia increased sharply, equal to two-thirds of the accumulated number of visitors coming to other two airports, standing at 70 million people.
In contrast, Newark airport had the lowest number of passengers, 15 million, accounting for only two-thirds of the total number coming to John F. Kennedy. However, while the next upcoming years saw a reliable increase in the number of passengers departed in Newark, the opposite was found in John F. Kennedy airport, in which the total passengers increased from 25 million in 1995 to 45 million in 1997 before dropping to 30 million in 1999.
