1. How do people grow plants in cities?
In cities, people usually grow plants in small spaces like balconies, rooftops, or even inside their homes using pots or containers. Many urban dwellers also participate in community gardens, where they share space with others to grow vegetables or flowers. With the help of technology, such as hydroponic or vertical farming systems, people can now grow plants even in limited spaces.
- small spaces – không gian nhỏ
- pots or containers – chậu hoặc thùng
- community gardens – vườn cộng đồng
2. What happened to the farmers’ income during the pandemic?
During the pandemic, many farmers faced serious difficulties. Their income dropped significantly because of supply chain disruptions, lower demand from restaurants and markets, and difficulties in transporting goods. However, in some areas, farmers who shifted to direct-to-consumer models, like selling online or through local delivery, were able to adapt and survive better.
3. What are the differences between traditional and modern agriculture?
Traditional agriculture usually involves manual labor, natural techniques, and smaller-scale farms. It often relies on seasonal knowledge and simple tools. In contrast, modern agriculture uses advanced machinery, chemical fertilizers, and large-scale farming techniques. It also involves data-driven technologies and genetic engineering to boost productivity.
- manual labor – lao động thủ công
- advanced machinery – máy móc tiên tiến
- data-driven technologies – công nghệ dựa trên dữ liệu
4. What do you think of the job of a farmer?
I think being a farmer is a very honorable but also challenging profession. It requires a lot of hard work, patience, and deep knowledge about soil, weather, and crops. Even though farmers don’t always get the recognition they deserve, they play a crucial role in our lives by producing the food we eat every day.
- honorable – đáng kính
- crucial role – vai trò quan trọng
5. Do you think it’s good to let kids learn how to plant?
Absolutely! Teaching kids how to plant helps them understand nature, build responsibility, and develop healthy habits. It also teaches them where their food comes from, which can encourage them to eat healthier. Plus, gardening can be a fun and relaxing hobby that keeps them away from screens for a while.
6. Are there many people growing their own vegetables now?
Yes, I think more and more people are trying to grow their own vegetables, especially after the pandemic. Many people realized the importance of self-sufficiency and eating healthier. Even in cities, people are turning to balcony gardening or urban farming to grow things like herbs, tomatoes, or leafy greens.
- self-sufficiency – tự túc
- urban farming – nông nghiệp đô thị
