Kiến thức trọng âm chiếm 2 câu hỏi (tương đương 0,4 điểm) trong kỳ thi THPT Quốc gia môn tiếng Anh. Trọng âm thuộc nhóm câu hỏi Nhận biết và không quá khó. Do đó, các bạn không nên bỏ lỡ cơ hội “ghi điểm” câu hỏi này với 10 quy tắc nhấn TRỌNG ÂM dưới đây nhé. Bên cạnh đó, bạn cũng nên luyện thường xuyên với các bài tập trọng âm để có sự chuẩn bị tốt nhất cho kỳ thi THPT Quốc gia sắp tới.

Bài viết dưới đây sẽ không nói quá sâu vào việc luyện trọng âm khi nói, mà tập trung vào các quy tắc DỄ NHỚ & DỄ HỌC để giúp các bạn ghi điểm trong bài thi.

Các quy tắc nhấn trọng âm cơ bản

Quy tắc #1: Danh từ & Tính từ có 2 âm tiết

Danh từ & tính từ có 2 âm tiết ⟶ trọng âm thường rơi vào âm tiết thứ 1

Ví dụ:

• children (CHIL-dren)
• habit (HA-bit)
• labour (LA-bour)
• handsome (HAND-some)
• silly (SIL-ly)

Ngoại lệ: Luôn luôn có những yếu tố “bất quy tắc” và trọng âm cũng không nằm ngoài việc này. Cách duy nhất là bạn cần luyện tập nhiều để ghi nhớ chúng.

• mistake (mis-TAKE)
• alone (a-LONE)

Quy tắc #2: Động từ & Giới từ có 2 âm tiết

Quy tắc #3: Các từ vừa là danh từ, vừa là động từ

Một số từ trong tiếng Anh có thể vừa là danh từ, vừa là động từ.

Trong những trường hợp đó, cách phát âm và nhấn trọng âm của từ sẽ khác nhau (dù cách viết giống nhau)

• project (PRO-ject /ˈprɒdʒekt/) vs. project (pro-JECT /prəˈdʒekt/)
• export (EX-port /ˈekspɔːt/) vs. export (ex-PORT /ɪkˈspɔːt/)
• present (PRE-sent /ˈprezənt/) vs. present (pre-SENT /prɪˈzent/)

Quy tắc #4. Các từ có 3 âm tiết kết thúc bằng -er, và -ly

Những từ có 3 âm tiết và kết thúc bằng “-er” hoặc “-ly” ⟶ trọng âm thường rơi vào âm tiết thứ 1

Ví dụ:

• orderly (OR-der-ly)
• manager (MA-na-ger)

Quy tắc #5. Các từ kết thúc bằng -ic, -sion, -tion, -ance, -ence, -ious, -eous, -iar, -eous

Khi một từ kết thúc bằng -ic, -sion, -tion, -ance, -ence, -idle, -ious, -e,ous -iar, -ience, ⟶ trọng âm thường nằm ở âm tiết ngay trước đó

Ví dụ:

• creation (cre-A-tion)
• commission (com-MIS-sion)
• academic (a-ca-DE-mic)
• photographic (pho-to-GRA-phic)
• importance (im-POR-tance)
• delicious (de-LI-cious)

Quy tắc #6 Các từ kết thúc bằng -cy, -ty, -phy, -gy và -al

Khi một từ kết thúc bằng “cy”, “ty”, “phy”, “gy” và “al” ⟶ trọng âm thường ở âm tiết thứ ba từ dưới lên

Ví dụ:

• democracy (de-MO-cra-cy)
• photography (pho-TO-gra-phy)
• magical (MA-gi-cal)
• commodity (com-MO-di-ty)
• psychology (psy-CHO-lo-gy)

Quy tắc #7: Các từ kết thúc bằng -ee, -eer, -ese, -ique, -esque

Các từ kết thúc bằng -ee, -eer, -ese, -ique, -esque ⟶ trọng âm thường rơi vào chính âm tiết đó

• agree (a-GREE)
• volunteer (vo-lun-TEER)
• vietnamese (viet-nam-MESE)
• unique (u -NIQUE)
• picturesque (pic-ture-SQUE)

Ngoại lệ:

• employee (em-ploy-YEE)
• committee (com-mit-TEE)
• coffee (COF-fee)

Quy tắc #8: Danh từ ghép

Trong hầu hết các danh từ ghép (một danh từ được tạo thành từ hai hoặc nhiều từ hiện có) ⟶ trọng âm rơi vào danh từ đầu tiên.

Ví dụ:

• football (FOOT-ball)
• keyboard (KEY-board)
• gateway (GATE-way)

Quy tắc #9: Tính từ ghép

Với tính từ ghép bắt đầu bằng tính từ/trạng từ hoặc kết thúc đuôi -ED ⟶ trọng âm rơi vào từ thứ hai.

• short-sighted (short – SIGHTED)
• bad-tempered (bad-TEM-pered)
• well-done (well-DONE)
• old-fashioned (old-FA-shioned)

Các tính từ ghép bắt đầu bằng danh từ ⟶ trọng âm rơi vào từ thứ nhất

Quy tắc #10: Quy tắc nhấn trọng âm với số

Với các số kết thúc đuôi -teen ⟶ trọng âm rơi vào chính âm tiết đó

• fifteen (fif-TEEN)
• seventeen (se-ven-TEEN)

Với các số kết thúc đuôi -ty ⟶ trọng âm rơi vào từ trước đó

• twenty (TWEN-ty)
• seventy (SE-ven-ty)
