Should countries develop tourism? Why?
In your opinion, what factors are important for the country to develop?
In your opinion, can the country still develop?
1. Should countries develop tourism? Why?
Granted, mass tourism could sometimes be synonymous with environmental issues or cultural conflicts, but this industry is just too lucrative to not invest in. Just think of how many local businesses could prosper, how many people could find employment in hospitality, working as concierges, or drivers and housekeepers. Besides, traveling for leisure is known to fulfill your life, so of course the government should make it possible for their citizens to explore their countries. And not to mention, international tourists could bring in so much foreign exchange that is crucial for economic development.
- granted: “công nhận là
- lucrative: sinh lợi
- foreign exchange: ngoại tệ
2. In your opinion, what factors are important for a country to develop?
What isn’t? Still, I can see that if you ask certain economists or business owners, they would say that the economy is what needs the most attention from the government. It’s true, isn’t it, that money makes the world go around. Without it, patients couldn’t get medicines, students couldn’t buy books, and everyone couldn’t afford food to sustain their life. That being said, economic prosperity shouldn’t come at the cost of the environment. But that I mean, the government should not turn pristine beaches into exclusive resorts only for tourists to litter their surroundings. Nor should they exploit natural resources like by opening strip mines that are responsible for landslides in floods.
- pristine: hoang sơ.
- exploit natural resources: khai thác tài nguyên thiên nhiên
- strip mines: mỏ khoáng sản
3. In your opinion, can the country still develop?
This is a tough one as I have no idea what you mean by that question. Do you mean that my country can still develop, because if so, the answer is yes, of course. There are still a lot of room for improvement. But then again, nobody is perfect.
- “there are still a lot of room for improvement.“: “vẫn còn nhiều chỗ để cải thiện.”
