1. Do people in your country often invite others to their homes? Why?

Yes. Inviting someone into your home is often a sign of hospitality, and people usually do this with someone they’re fond of or hit it off with, to strengthen the bonds between them. The person they invite could be a colleague, a friend, or a family member, to name a few.

  • Hospitality (n): sự hiếu khách
  • Hit it off with somebody: to be friendly with each other immediately: thân thiện với nhau ngay lập tức

2. What do you think of serving food to visitors?

I think it’s a great gesture of hospitality. Humans have bonded over food for thousands of years, and I guess the reason why it’s such a long-standing tradition is because during ancient time when food can be scarce, if you share it with someone, it means that they are important to you and you cherish them. But you shouldn’t serve food to any visitor though, it’s something people only do with important guests or the ones who they’re close with

  • A gesture of hospitality: Cử chỉ hiếu khách

3. What kind of people do you think are more likely to invite others to their homes?

I guess it would be someone who prefers the cozy atmosphere of a home to a cafe or restaurant, hence the reason those people tend to invite people to their homes. Another guess would be ostentatious people who want to show off their place to visitors, maybe because it’s a source of pride for them.

  • Ostentatious (Adj): Thích khoe mẽ

4. Who is more likely to invite others to their homes, people in the countryside or people in the city?

Well, it’s gotta be the former, simply because in the countryside, the communities are more tight-knit. Therefore, people tend to be more hospitable and would probably visit each other more. The city folk can be more hard-hearted due to the competitive nature of city life, and therefore, can be less likely to invite someone to their homes.

  • Tight-knit (adj): gắn bó khăng khít
  • Hard-hearted (adj): not kind or sympathetic toward other people: không tử tế hoặc thông cảm với người khác

5. Are tourist attractions in the countryside more popular than those in the cities?

Not necessarily. Every attraction has their own appeal, and countryside attractions can be just as popular as city ones, as long as they play to their strengths and offer tourists some novel and unique experience that they can’t find anywhere else.

  • Appeal (n): Sức hút
  • Play to one’s strength: bám sát thế mạnh của mình

6. What facilities are there in the tourist attractions in your country?

Well, the most popular ones would be souvenir stores that sell traditional handicrafts such as conical hats or bamboo dragonflies. There, tourists can by signature items from Vietnam that serve as mementos of their journey.

  • Memento (n): Vật hồi tưởng
