Do people love receiving free gifts?
Do you think people would value things more when they buy them?
Do people buy things without looking at the price?
Why do companies give free gifts to people? Do you think that it is some kind of a trick?
1. Do people love receiving free gifts?
I don’t think I’m qualified to speak for everyone, but I think that for most people, getting something for free would be the highlight of their day, especially if it’s on a special occasion, for example a birthday, or an anniversary. The act of gifting someone shows that you care a lot about them, and that you are willing to spend the time and effort to get them something that they want. So, I do think that being at the receiving-end of that thoughtfulness can make a person very happy.
- qualified (adjective): Đủ tiêu chuẩn
- anniversary (noun): Kỷ niệm
- gifting (noun): Việc tặng quà
- effort (noun): Nỗ lực
- receiving-end (noun phrase): Phía nhận (trong một trao đổi hoặc giao dịch)
2. Do you think people would value things more when they buy them?
Yes, absolutely, unless they are irresponsible with their finances, of course. What I mean is once a person gets a job and starts to be self-sufficient, they tend to be more considerate when it comes to buying things, since it’s their hard-earned money that they’re spending. And I also think that when it’s your money on the line, you’d want to get more value out of the product that you bought. Take a smartphone as an example, it’s an expensive item – costing the average person at least half of their monthly income. With such a significant portion of their salary spent on one product, they would value it more and try to be careful with it.
- finances (noun): Tài chính
- self-sufficient (adjective): Tự cung tự cấp
- hard-earned money (noun phrase): Tiền kiếm được từ sự nỗ lực
- considerate (adjective): Chu đáo, quan tâm
3. Do people buy things without looking at the price?
To be honest, I think this applies to a small proportion of the population – the ones who are financially comfortable. On the other hand, for most people, I think it’s a good idea to be aware of how much things cost, because this would give them a better handle of their spending and finances.
- financially responsible (adjective phrase): Có trách nhiệm về tài chính
- give someone a better handle on something (verb phrase): Giúp ai đó kiểm soát tốt hơn một việc gì đó
4. Why do companies give free gifts to people? Do you think that it is some kind of a trick?
It’s a win-win situation, honestly. I mean, obviously it’s a marketing scheme – giving the consumers free stuff so that they would promote the brand. But the person receiving the free products also gets something in return. With the amount of competition between different companies nowadays, I think that giving free gifts has become common practice – every company does this. So yes, it’s a trick, but it’s become such a common occurrence that most people don’t care anymore – in fact, I’d bet that most people would enjoy receiving free stuff from brands.
- win-win situation (noun phrase): Tình huống đôi bên cùng có lợi
- marketing scheme (noun phrase): Kế hoạch tiếp thị
- promote (verb): Quảng bá
- get something in return (verb phrase): Nhận lại điều gì đó
- common practice (noun phrase): Thực tế phổ biến
- occurrence (noun): Sự việc, hiện tượng
