1. Bài mẫu (Sample)
Let me tell you about a time when I worked in a team for a university presentation on English teaching methodologies.
As you can probably tell, it’s for my TESOL methodologies course in which we were divided into groups of five members, and assigned to prepare a presentation about different language teaching approaches to teach different skills. We had to research the topic, design slides, and present our findings to the class. I was mainly responsible for gathering information and creating the PowerPoint slides.
Although the project seemed straightforward at first, we hit a few bumps in the road. The main problem was that everyone had a tight timetable as we worked and pursued the course at the same time while some were even busy being a mom, so it was difficult to find a time when all of us could meet. In addition, some members had different opinions about how the presentation should be structured, so we occasionally saw eye to eye on some issues but not on others.
As the deadline got closer, we were under a lot of pressure and had to race against the clock to finish everything. Fortunately, instead of arguing, we decided to put our heads together and come up with solutions. We divided the tasks more clearly and kept in touch through online meetings.
In the end, everything went smoothly. Everyone pulled their weight, and we delivered the presentation successfully. Our lecturer was impressed with our teamwork and gave us the highest mark in the course.
Looking back, I used to think that team effort was a waste of time, and I had to work in the group because it was a compulsory assignment. However, I think it was a valuable experience because it taught me how to cooperate with different people, deal with disagreements, and work towards a mutual goal.

2. Từ vựng (Vocabulary)
- hit a few bumps in the road: gặp một vài khó khăn, trở ngại trong quá trình thực hiện
- see eye to eye: đồng tình, có cùng quan điểm
- race against the clock: chạy đua với thời gian
- put our heads together: cùng nhau suy nghĩ, góp ý để giải quyết vấn đề
- pull their weight: làm tròn trách nhiệm, đóng góp phần việc của mình
- a mutual goal: mục tiêu chung
Part 3:
1. Why do some people prefer to work by themselves?
As a lone wolf, I truly see why. First of all, they have complete control over the way a task is carried out. When people work independently, they can make decisions quickly without having to consult others or compromise. This can save a lot of time, especially when deadlines are tight. More importantly, from my own experience, collaborating with those irresponsible and lazy classmates or colleagues can be a disaster when we have to finish the whole task, and after all, what traumatises us hardworking people the most is that all members get the same credit.
- a lone wolf: người thích làm việc một mình, sống độc lập
- consult: tham vấn
- get the same credit: được công nhận, khen ngợi như nhau
- traumatise: gây sang chấn tâm lý
2. What should a leader do to make team members want to follow him or her?
In my opinion, a good leader should earn respect rather than demand it. One of the most important qualities is leading by example. If a leader works hard, meets deadlines, and takes responsibility for mistakes, team members are more likely to trust and follow that person. In addition, effective communication is essential. A leader should clearly explain goals and expectations so that everyone understands what they need to do. At the same time, leaders should listen to team members’ opinions and encourage them to contribute ideas. When people feel heard and respected, they become more engaged in the team’s work. Last, it may sound weird, but I truly believe that one is born to be a leader, so they are usually very charismatic.
- leading by example: làm gương
3. Should students learn to do group work?
Yes, that should be an important part of education. The main reason is that it helps students develop interpersonal skills, such as communication, teamwork, and conflict resolution. These cannot be learned effectively through individual learning. Furthermore, group work prepares students for the real world because, as task complexity increases at work, they are expected to complete tasks in teams, not independently. By participating in group projects at school, students learn how to share responsibilities, negotiate different viewpoints, and solve problems together.
- interpersonal skills: kỹ năng mềm
4. What group tasks are there in schools?
Children now actually have many team projects at school. Academic tasks include presentations, research projects, science experiments, and problem-solving activities. These tasks encourage students to exchange ideas and learn from one another.
Apart from academic work, schools also organise extracurricular activities that involve teamwork, like sports competitions, school performances, debate clubs, or volunteer projects. Such activities often help them build stronger relationships with their peers.
