1. Bài mẫu (Sample)
One of the most remarkable parks I have seen is Gardens by the Bay in Singapore. Located on close to 11 million square feet of prime real estate on Marina Bay, the nature park features three gardens the size of 177 soccer fields, the main attractions being two massive conservatories with glass-covered domes and 18 towering supertrees up to 50 meters high. The park is an international showcase of flora, sourcing species as far afield as Mexico. The trunks of the supertrees are built with panels carrying lush greenery, most of which is hardy species like bromeliads, as where the more sensitive ones are housed in the conservatories. Tourists from all corners of the world flock to Singapore since there has been so much buzz about the thrill and spectacular view when being up in the canopy, the restaurant or on the walkway 40 meters in the air, supported by the giant trees, especially at night when the place comes alive with colorful and specially sequenced lights.
This park particularly interests me for so many reasons. The sheer scale of the project makes visitors immediately feel like they have stepped into a vast ancient rainforest. The layout of the park is tastefully designed to resemble orchids, the national flower of Singapore, by structuring footpaths like the stem system and the reclaimed land on which the gardens sit to have these gentle, delicate curves like the petals in its shape. Beyond its aesthetic appeal, the gardens are an engineering marvel. If I am not mistaken, the domes are reinforced with 150-meter arches on the outside and hundreds of steel frames called grid shells on the inside to guard against high winds and heavy rain. The domes use treated double-glazed glass as well as computerized shades activated automatically to maintain the cool temperatures in the conservatory 24.7, which is why temperate flowers like tulips can grow there. What amazes me the most is how environmentally sustainable this whole place is. The gardens are clearly the green lungs of Singapore, decarbonizing the city, but they also power themselves through the solar panels fitted atop the supertree canopy to harvest sunlight.

1. What are the advantages of having a home with a garden?
Two advantages of having a home garden I can think of right now are that it breathes life into an otherwise soulless place, and that the plants can capture many airborne pollutants, like spider plants removing asthma-causing mold. Having said that, people need to select plants that can thrive in the conditions, such as the temperature or lighting, or else the plants could rot and die, spreading bacteria and fungi.

2. How could people living in apartment blocks grow plants and vegetables?
People can grow small plants and vegetables, either by hanging them on those clay pots with holes in the bottom to drain out excess water or reserve a corner in their flats as a dedicated space for small flower beds. While they will need to commit time to this activity, they will be rewarded with their own fresh produce. The sense of pride and accomplishment of being self-sufficient makes the whole experience worthwhile for many.

3. How interested are people in your country in TV shows and magazines about gardens?
I think they quite enjoy those shows, especially people in urban centers looking for ideas to replicate in their gardens. This is just anecdotal but many of my students in Hanoi share with me that they watch videos about horticulture religiously, actively seeking ways to build better gardens where they can truly feel connected to nature.
