Câu trả lời mẫu (Sample Answer)

1. Are you working or are you a student?

(Band 7.0 – 7.5) So I’m currently working as a teacher, specifically an English teacher. And I actually find it funny because it has nothing to do with my major in a colleague, which is economics.

(Band 8.0+) Well, currently I’m part-timing as an English teacher at a local tutoring school. And I have been doing so for about 5 years now.

2. What do you like about your job?

(Band 7.0 – 7.5) I’m actually really glad that I picked this job because I feel like I can really help people. Even though there’s a lot of work to do. I just feel very happy to see my students grow every day.

(Band 8.0+) So one of the most rewarding aspects of my job is that I’d get to meet people from all walks of life. And you know, they all bring very different, very unique dynamics to the classroom.

3. What do you do after work?

(Band 7.0 – 7.5) So after work, I usually go home and have dinner with my family. And after that, I might just go and grab a drink with my friends, or just stay at home and catch up on my favourite shows on Netflix.

(Band 8.0+) So after I get off, I usually hit the bar with a couple of my friends, or even, my students. We would like to grab a couple of drinks or maybe a bite to eat if we’re feeling up to it. And it’s always a blast whenever I hang out with them. It’s a great way to unwind and chill.

4. What subjects are you studying?

I’m currently studying a range of subjects, but my favorites are English and Physics. These two subjects really capture my interest and keep me engaged.

5. Do you like your subject?

Absolutely! I thoroughly enjoy both English and Physics. They challenge me in different ways and allow me to explore fascinating concepts.

6. Why did you choose to study that subject?

For English, I’ve always had a passion for languages and literature. It’s a subject that allows me to express myself creatively and improve my communication skills. As for Physics, I’m drawn to understanding how the world works on a fundamental level. The laws of physics govern everything around us, and I find that incredibly intriguing.

7. Do you want to change your major?

At this point, I’m quite content with my choice of subjects. However, I do have an interest in exploring other fields in the future, perhaps in university. But for now, I’m focused on excelling in English and Physics.

Work or Studies IELTS Speaking Part 1

8. Do you prefer to study in the morning or in the afternoons?

Personally, I find studying in the afternoons more productive for me. I feel more awake and alert compared to the early mornings. Unfortunately, our school starts at 7 a.m., which I find a bit too early for optimal studying.

9. How much time do you spend on your studies each week?

On average, I dedicate around 30 to 35 hours per week to my studies. This includes class time, homework, revision, and preparation for exams.

10. Are you looking forward to working?

Yes, I’m definitely looking forward to entering the workforce one day. I see it as an opportunity to apply the knowledge and skills I’ve gained through my studies and contribute to society in a meaningful way.

11. What technology do you use when you study?

I make use of various technologies to aid my studies, such as my laptop for research and writing essays, educational apps for language learning, and online resources for Physics simulations and practice problems.

12. What changes would you like to see in your school?

While I appreciate many aspects of my school, one change I’d like to see is a later starting time. Waking up at 6 a.m. every day can be quite challenging, and I believe starting school an hour later would allow students to be more rested and focused during classes. Overall, though, I love my school for its supportive learning environment, friendly peers, and dedicated teachers.

13. What work do you do?

I work in advertising and communications. My job involves creating and implementing marketing strategies, designing advertising campaigns, and managing communications for various clients or projects.

11. Why did you choose to do that type of work (or that job)?

13. Do you want to change to another job?

At times, especially when I’m feeling overwhelmed by deadlines and stress, I do entertain the idea of switching to a less demanding job. However, I ultimately enjoy the creative aspects of my current role and the opportunities it provides for personal and professional growth.

  • Overwhelmed (adjective): bị quá tải hoặc áp đảo bởi trách nhiệm.
  • Switch (verb): chuyển đổi
  • Demanding (adjective): đòi hỏi nhiều

14. Do you miss being a student?

Sometimes, yes. As a student, my responsibilities were primarily focused on studying and learning, without the pressure of meeting deadlines or managing projects. There are moments when I miss the simplicity and freedom of those days.

16. Who helps you the most? And how?
