1. What role should the teacher have in a classroom?
As far as I’m concerned, there can be several roles that a teacher plays in an educational setting, but the most important one is to deliver classroom instruction that helps students learn effectively. To illustrate, teachers usually have to prepare and execute lesson plans to make lessons more engaging and grade students’ homework. Apart from that, teachers can even become a third parent to students in their formative years and shape them into upright citizens.
2. Do you think computers will one day replace teachers in the classroom?
Definitely not. Despite the recent technological advancements, machines can never become a replacement for human teachers. For starters, teaching is definitely not only about facts and figures. Computers can’t lead or mentor a student the way a teacher can. A good human teacher encourages independent thoughts and independent learning. Also, a human teacher is able to create an ideal learning environment via the bond between them and students, which can never be attained through virtual learning.
3. How can a teacher make lessons for children more interesting?
To my way of thinking, there can be a variety of ways to make children more interested in lessons. First of all, game-based learning can be a great way to make lessons more engrossing. Conducting a spelling bee is a salient example of this as this type of contest usually makes classes a lot more fun, and when kids associate learning with something entertaining, teaching becomes more effective. On top of that, utilizing technological elements such as using videos and slides is definitely a fantastic way to make lessons more absorbing, making the interest level in a classroom increase by leaps and bounds.
4. What do you think should change about the way students are taught in your country?
In my opinion, there are some alterations that should be made about education in Vietnam. To begin with, practical knowledge and hands-on experience should be more emphasized, as the focus of today’s educational system in my country is mainly about theoretical knowledge. For instance, there should be more field trips to museums or galleries so that students can heighten their awareness about culture and history in a more lively way. What’s more, schools should also educate their students about essential skills in real life, such as collaboration and communication skills besides academic subjects.
