1. Do you like reading?
Yes, I’m a bit of a bookworm, to be honest. (ANSWER) Reading allows me to escape from my daily routine and broaden my horizons at the same time. (EXPLAIN) I’m particularly into non-fiction these days, as I love picking up practical knowledge I can apply to real life. (EXAMPLE)
Vocabulary:
- a bookworm = người mê đọc sách, “mọt sách”
- escape from my daily routine = thoát khỏi nhịp sống thường ngày
- broaden my horizons = mở mang tầm hiểu biết
- be into (sth) = thích, mê cái gì đó
- pick up knowledge = thu nạp kiến thức
2. Do you prefer to read on paper or on a screen?
I’m definitely a paper person. (ANSWER) There’s something about flipping through physical pages that feels more satisfying, and it’s much easier on my eyes too. (EXPLAIN + EFFECT) Staring at a screen for too long tends to give me a headache, so I save digital reading for short articles only. (EFFECT)
Vocabulary:
- a paper person = người thích đọc sách giấy
- flip through pages = lật giở trang sách

3. When do you need to read carefully, and when not?
Well, it really comes down to the purpose. (ANSWER) I read carefully when I’m dealing with something important, like a contract or study materials, because missing a single detail could cause problems. (EXPLAIN + EXAMPLE). On the other hand, when I’m just browsing social media or skimming the news, I don’t pay that much attention. (CONTRAST)
Vocabulary:
- it comes down to = vấn đề nằm ở chỗ, phụ thuộc vào
- deal with (sth) = xử lý, giải quyết
- miss a detail = bỏ sót chi tiết
- on the other hand = mặt khác
- pay attention = chú ý, để tâm
4. Do you prefer scanning or detailed reading?
It depends on what I’m reading, but generally I prefer scanning for everyday stuff. (ANSWER) When I’m short on time, I just scan through to get the gist without going into every detail. (EXPLAIN) However, for things I genuinely care about, like a good novel, I take my time and read every word to fully absorb it. (CONTRAST + EFFECT)

- get the gist = nắm ý chính
- short on time = thiếu thời gian, gấp gáp
